I think it's great -- if you're the type to give away a gun for $100, I don't think you're the type who should own one.
And if you 'sold' some old beater .38 that was coming apart and might have kBed if you'd pulled the trigger on a live round, then it's probably better that such a gun isn't around for kids to get into or whatever.
Just my thought. I think that while the gov't is asking people to voluntarily 'sell' their firearms, it won't be going door to door to confiscate them. In New Orleans after Katrina you didn't see the cops "asking" people to "sell" their weapons. They just took 'em.
Let's make sure our government continues to ask politely.
