I have an opportunity to trade my lightly used Ruger LC9 towards a new Glock model 43. The LC9 functions perfectly, but I am not crazy about the trigger. The balance and felt recoil are mildly annoying to me. The G43 felt better in my hand. I would welcome comments from those who have owned or shot both.

If it's not an LC9s then I say go for it. Then all the operators will befriend you at the very least...

It is exactly what I did. Liked the G42 so much I now have two of them.
At 84 years of age and with arthritis shooting these small 9mm pistols has just become very unpleasant, but I can shoot the G42 all day.

I gave my first gen to my dad when I got my LC9s pro, if I liked Glocks I'd trade a first gen LC9 in a heartbeat.

Two different guns as far as feel goes. the glocks fit my hand better, the Lc9 is easier to pocket carry, it depends on your needs. My hands are too big to be comfortable with the Ruger, but I can shoot it well if necessary, the glock just fits my grip better. Both are good little guns. I have thought about getting a PRO, the prices a re so low. Glocks I have many of, and a 43 is not a 26. To me if you can carry a 43 you can carry a 26. It's all in th holster, and I prefer 9+ rounds.

I "pulled the trigger" on the trade. I gave my friend at the LGS my old LC9 and two "junk" handguns for the NIB G43. He threw in an extended 7-round magazine for free. I think he was extra happy to sell it to me because we have become friends and it is his preferred personal carry piece. I actually have five handguns in my concealed carry rotation, so this one will replace the LC9 as my "single-stack 9mm" spot on the roster.

Good deal, it is a matter of what you feel most comfortable with. I keep trying different guns, but always come back to my glocks for defensive situations, like carry. It's just a matter of comfort that the pistol is going to work when I need it to. Even with a backup gun, you still need time to get to it.

I have owned both the LC 9 and G 43, might be the expection but i did not like either even though i have a G 42 that i love to shoot as well as a G 19. For Compact (or micro) 9mmpistols I prefer the Sig P 938 or S&W Shield, different actions but both easy, accurate, reliable shooters.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but yeah, I'd be totally in favor of dumping a Ruger LC9 (as the prior owner of not one, but two of these critters) for a Glock, any Glock ...

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with carrying a sub-compact single stack 9mm OWB on the belt. You still have supreme concealment, but a much easier draw.

The LC9 platform does have its merits but if less recoil is a priority then it is not the ideal gun. The Glock 43 shoots well and carries well. The extended base plates help with the 6 round magazine capacity as well. Hickock45 has a good video on just that for the G43.

My hands are very large, but one of my three magazines feels very good to me. The flush one is too small. The one pictured has the lump on the bottom front that forces my pinky underneath it. However, the extended version with no lump actually lets my get all of my fingers on the grip. I will finally get to shoot it tomorrow morning with my FiL. He really wants to try it out. Oddly enough, the other one he really wants me to bring is my Mauser Model 1914 in 32acp. The two pistols are an interesting contrast.
