Yesterday I traded a couple guns that had been sitting in the back of the safe straight up for a NIB STI Trojan in 9mm. Took it to the range with 100 rounds of Fed. AE 115 gr. ball ammo (couldn't get the 147 gr. AE which this one will probably shoot a little tighter). Shot the first 100 rounds beautifully, it grouped nicely and without a hiccup. This gun really likes the Wilson Elite Tactical mags that I have, it came with one Metalform mag that worked fine, but I need to put a basepad on it.

Question: Does anybody else have one of these, does yours shoot a little bit tighter with 124 or 147 gr. 9mm ball ammo?

I have one I have had for 4 yrs. Great shooter and very accurate especially with 147 fmj ammo. I handload for with a 147 gr fmj Zero bullet and it will make a ragged hole at 25 yrds if I do my part. I did have the trigger worked on when I first got it. You will like it, it's like shooting a 22.

Thanks for the reply, Your advice on the Trojan 9 is consistent with what I experienced with my Springfield Loaded 9mm 1911, which is that it seemed to shoot a little tighter with 147 grain ball ammo, and it recoiled noticeably less with the slower bullet round.

BTW, which magazines are you using with your Trojan 9?

What Spartan 9x19 model
5" / 4.25" or 3.24" ?

I have a CZ 75B and prefer the Federal American
eagle 147 gr. FP-TMC at the range -and- the
carry load is +P 147 gr. XTP JHP @ 1,100 fps

No, we're talking about the STI Trojan, mine is the Government length.

BTW, my CZ 75B is a tack-driver with every factory ammo I ever loaded in it including that Fed AE 147 grain FMJ!

The 147 grain bullets seem to be one of, if not the best choice for 9mm.
Especially the truncated cone flat point version.
The extra length over ball seems to increase accuracy.

I had a Trojan in 9MM. I tried 115, 124 and 147 grain RN ball, flat point ball, hollow points, etc. Mine demonstrated flawless reliability with every type of ammo I used. It shot well with all bullet weights and I don't think I could say one or the other weight was significantly more accurate when shooting carefully at 25 yards. At 100 yds. the lighter, faster ammo definitely shoots flatter than the standard pressure 147 grain. I have not had any 147+P to try since Cor-Bon quit loading it years ago. The old Cor-Bon 147 +P did 1100+ fps in 4" barrels and right at 1200 fps in my Browning GP with 5.9" barrel. That 147 did shoot accurately, and flat, for a heavy bullet in 9MM. I still have one Trojan and think they are excellent pistols, well worth the asking price.

I use Trip Cobra 10 rnd mags. I also use the standard 9 rnd mag that comes with the gun when new. They work equally well no matter the bullet. My gun does tend to choke on hollow point bullets if the feed ramp is very dirty.

I've had better accuracy out of my RIA tactical with 147gr personally. It shots well with 115, or 124, just not as good as with the 147.

Ferges, I've had good luck with checkmate (of all things) 9 rounds mags and hollowpoints regardless of how dirty the gun is. My Wilson mags on the other hand do not like to feed the top round if it's a HP. I need to get a couple of Trip Cobras and see how those run.

In my opinion the Trojan is a very top choice for a little over a grand. When you build pistols that are routinely shot as much as STI pistols are you tend to learn a few things.

Here's a little update @ the 500 round mark with the 9mm STI Trojan; I found some of that new Winchester Train & Defend 147 gr. FMJ ammo down at Cabelas and the gun shoots this to POA beautifully. Shoots Fed AE and Champion 115 grain FMJs a little low, but it shoots Blazer Brass 115 grain FMJs almost as well as the Win T&D ammo. I could probably zero the rear sight with the BB, but I want to try other rounds first. I want to try some Fed AE 147 gr. ammo next. The gun jammed miserably several times on that ZQI 123 gr. NATO ammo, so I won't be using those rounds again. Everything else cycled 100%. My (3) Wilson Elite Tactical Mags work beautifully, the single Metalform that came with it works good but I need to put a basepad on it.
