Traded my way back into the 1911 club today...

Isn’t that the truth! I probably would have settled for two of those for a SCAR. There is easily $4500-$5000 in 1911s there.
I think I added the value up to around $5300 if the pistols were new. Just kinda looked at what they were selling for on Gunbroker and threw a shot in the dark on the XSS and priced it like a Pointman 7.

Got rid of my SCAR-17 and picked up four 1911s today. I got a Springfield TRP Operator w/ full rail which I have lusted over since I first saw one in a gun magazine in high school. Also added a non-railed TRP Operator, a LWT railed Operator and a Dan Wesson XSS. Apparently the XSS became the Pointman 7 or something like that. Not a ton of search results for the XSS. I know that it stands for XS sights and Stainless. I think I did well on the trade. We’ll see how long I keep all of them. I’ve always been more of a Glock and CZ guy, but I’ve been wanting to put some 1911s back in the stable.

Only 4, 1911s don't you feel naked.

Finally got to shoot all four pistols today. Three of the four are awesome. Extremely accurate even in my Glock-hands and 100% reliable thus far in fifty rounds each. The full railed TRP however will not extract. Bouncing between trying to fix it myself just because I like being able to fix my own problems and sending it back to Springfield. Extracts and ejects fine by hand, but will not extract an empty case. The empty case is stopping about halfway out with the slide being out of battery. Attaching photo for clarification. Any suggestions? Already tried several mags and four different types of ammo. As always, thanks in advance. BB164C71-E582-49A5-A496-F711978A603B.jpeg 35CF9EDA-F620-49E4-B386-41C545DD5811.jpeg

Guess you’ll need to get a fifth to avoid insulting anyone. :)

Is the hook on your extractor sheared off? If so you can get a replacement and a tensioning jig.
The hook is not sheared off, though it may be out of spec. Read a couple different things about extractor tension last night and tried some of the “tests” on YouTube. The extractor will hold a loaded round as shown in the attached photo. Even shaking it pretty vigorously, does not cause it to let go of the rim of the loaded round. 8E624EB1-85F5-4379-89CB-4716A2D4AEEC.jpeg

I was thinking extractor as well but it does seem to function okay like you have shown in your last photo. In any event I would consider getting another extractor or else take it to gunsmith versed in 1911s and see what he thinks the problem is.

Good! Hope everything goes okay with it and it's back in your hands real soon and out on the range!

Yeah it happens some times! Had one gun that was that way; sort of a rather expensive magazine fed, single shot pistol!

I had a Kimber Warrior SOC that was like that. That was the last 1911 I owned and that was six years ago. That was my fifth Kimber and the fourth Kimber I had that would not run.
