I need a trail camera. I know nothing about them.

All I know is that you need the camera, and something to hold it onto a tree.

Do they have solar batteries? Or do you have to keep changing the batteries?

I'd like a camera that can give decent night time images even though hunting after dark is against the law here. I'd just like to know what game is passing through.

Something that also shows the date and time on the image would be good. I'm likely to not get back to it except maybe twice a month.

Weatherproof is good.

What else should I be looking for? Features?

Finally, what camera can you recommend?

thanx

All my cameras are Spypoint IR series cameras. The IR-6 and IR-7 are really great cameras. IR-7 has sound with the video where the IR-6 just has video. Both take stills also. Very user friendly. Amazing battery life also. Both can shoot a whole season on 6 AA's. I did a lot of research before I bought my cameras. Are the absolute best money can buy? Probably not. But they take crystal clear day pics, awesome night pics, and really good IR video. And they are under $170. The battery cost is really something to think about. Cameras that take C's and D's can really drive up the cost of the camera over time. And get a lock box. If not you run the risk of getting them stolen no matter how remote or hidden you place is. JMHO.
