I suspect I already know the answer to this, but after googling, all of the answers seem to be 4 or 5 years old...
I am going to my daughter's wedding next summer (2015) from Texas and will be driving up. I will be stopping in Chicago and will be there for 3 or 4 days.
IL law seems to say that if I have the gun locked up and inaccessible (and I gather the ammunition needs to be locked up separately), that it is OK. Of course, a lot of what I am reading is sort of talking about passing through, rather than staying there for a few days.
I know Chicago/Cook County laws used to be more restrictive. But has that changed? I went to the handgunlaws.us website, and am still not clear.
Is the answer just to drive 1000 miles across the country with no protection?
Thanks all.
