I try to stay all day. I take a lunch with snacko's and drink.

If your hunting public land then deer tend to move a bit more during the midday. Might have something to do with other hunters moving around in the woods.

I hunt on WMAs.

When I hunted on a WMA last year we got in the tree at 5:00 a.m and got out the tree at 10:00a.m, went back to the camp. Then, we got back in the tree at 1:00p.m and got out the tree at about 5:30 or 6:00p.m. So, we hunted for 5hrs. in the moring and 5hrs. in the afternoon. Is that good times to hunt?

A long time ago, I got into a stand long before dawn, waited over a hot scrape for hours and hours. Came down about noon, and went back about three. And found the scrape had been tended in my absence.

That cured me! Stay there all day. Make yourself comfortable. Bring a quart milk container so you don't have to climb down to pee.

I always bring a bottle. My uncle has been hunting this area for 30 years, he said that he get most of his deer at about 2:45p.m. so thats why we leave at 10:00a.m and go back at 1:00p.m.

WMA's are the best place to hunt mid day. Most hunters like to get down around 10ish and walk a bit or head out for lunch/nap. Thats when the deer get pushed out of their bed or spooked in the woods. I tend to see more deer either right at sun up/sun down and during the mid day hours.

Stay all day if you can handle it. Take something to pee in like Vern says. I use the piddle packs that the military uses in the fighter jets. You can get ~6 drains in it. Snacks/water or even a book if you need something to keep you awake.

Also, do not go up in a climber without a harness. A harness is a must. It has saved my bacon a few times.

A harness came with my cliber. Do you clib the tree with the harness, or do you hook it too the tree when you get up the tree?
Where we hunt on the WMA, we are the only people that hunt there, they only have about 5 other people that hunt there. It is not hunted by alot of people, because it is so far back into the woods.

To me it all depends on the weahter,,,, Here in MN we get a lot of snow so It kind a makes sense to stay on the tree untill you see something..

You should be attached to the tree before your feet leave the ground and stay that way until you are back on the ground.
Be safe.
I spend a minimum of 3 hours on stand. But I also hunt my own land where I live and deer movement here is usually around dawn and dusk. During the rut, the bucks are moving all the time.

I hunt on my mom's uncle's privte land the week of new years, and just whenever I go over there during hunting season. I never go over to his house without my guns. He said that during the summer he just sits in a stand, and he said that he see a doe every day around 5:30p.m.

The last 3 times out, I have had the same 1.5 year old 4pt buck come in at 6:30pm. If he keeps that up, I'm going to have to shoot him just to get him outa my way. There is a nice 12 pt running around the neighborhood and I already took a big doe (older doe with no fawn) for the freezer.
I hunt when the schedule allows. No hunting today because its too warm to hang one and I don't want to stay up all night butchering.

He only shots one doe a year on his land, and the bucks have to be 4 point or more to shot.
