How long do most people stay in a cimbing treestand, when hunting?

If your hunting public land then deer tend to move a bit more during the midday. Might have something to do with other hunters moving around in the woods.
Vern Humphrey said:A long time ago, I got into a stand long before dawn, waited over a hot scrape for hours and hours. Came down about noon, and went back about three. And found the scrape had been tended in my absence.
That cured me! Stay there all day. Make yourself comfortable. Bring a quart milk container so you don't have to climb down to pee.
Lennyjoe said:WMA's are the best place to hunt mid day. Most hunters like to get down around 10ish and walk a bit or head out for lunch/nap. Thats when the deer get pushed out of their bed or spooked in the woods. I tend to see more deer either right at sun up/sun down and during the mid day hours.
Stay all day if you can handle it. Take something to pee in like Vern says. I use the piddle packs that the military uses in the fighter jets. You can get ~6 drains in it. Snacks/water or even a book if you need something to keep you awake.
Also, do not go up in a climber without a harness. A harness is a must. It has saved my bacon a few times.
You should be attached to the tree before your feet leave the ground and stay that way until you are back on the ground.A harness came with my cliber. Do you clib the tree with the harness, or do you hook it too the tree when you get up the tree?

Be safe.
I spend a minimum of 3 hours on stand. But I also hunt my own land where I live and deer movement here is usually around dawn and dusk. During the rut, the bucks are moving all the time.
Kingcreek said:The last 3 times out, I have had the same 1.5 year old 4pt buck come in at 6:30pm. If he keeps that up, I'm going to have to shoot him just to get him outa my way. There is a nice 12 pt running around the neighborhood and I already took a big doe (older doe with no fawn) for the freezer.
I hunt when the schedule allows. No hunting today because its too warm to hang one and I don't want to stay up all night butchering.
