Merry Christmas everyone; Well, being Christmas, we had a family and extended family gathering today at the house. We have about 190 acres, so some cousins and I decided to go out to the range area where I shoot to have some fun with our "toys". We shot my AR-15, my Mossberg 500 and my CZ-P07 unfortunately got left at the house (I love that pistol). Anyway, my cousin brought his little compact Sig P250. I initially thought that I would not like it very much considering the DOA trigger. Well, I was waaaay off. I LOVED it! Here's why:
-Buttery smooth slide. (It's only about 2 years old and he said it was this way the day he purchased it new)
-Great (for me) DAO trigger
-Accurate
-Feels fantastic in my hand with excellent grip size, shape and "stippling".
-Reliability (According to my cousin it hasn't jammed in the 2 years he's owned it, but I have no idea how many shots he's put through it, but hey, it's a Sig)

So, here's my conundrum; Do I buy this when I'm able, or the Walther PPk (and I do realize that's a .380)??? I've also considered the Springfield XDm compact. This is for carry by the way. My home defense pistol is my CZ P07.

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance!

Take a look at the P250 Subcompact. As shown in the linked photos, the P250sc is not as long or tall as the Compact. However, the 15-round Compact mags work in the 12-round Subcompact gun with an adapter, which a lot of people like for carry, backup, or range use.

Oh, also, I read about the Sig P320 and it sounds like it's fantastic as well, but apparently costs much o

You're right; I apologize, I should've made it clear that it was the sub-compact model I was talking about. I just really enjoyed that little guy. :) It's trigger and slide are so much smoother that I had anticipated. Not that I really expected the slide to be rough, it is a Sig after all. The fact is though, that it is so buttery smooth and the trigger is just sweet. However, after reading a bit more, the Sig P-320 seems to be about the same gun in a striker fired model. If it weren't for the price difference, I might go for it. It's going to be a while anyway, because I'm laid off for medical reasons, so I can't just go out and buy like I used to :) However, I still wanted everybody's opinion.

Guys, I above I meant to say "Sub-compact", not "Compact". This will of course make more sense to everybody scratching their heads about my trying to decide between the Sig P250, XDm sub, and the Walther PPk. :)

The PPK is massively stylish but it's a little outdated.

The P250 would be fine, as would the XDM.

Do you like your P07? If so, have you considered a CZ RAMI?

Between a .380 and a 9mm, I'd go with the 9mm every time, despite the iconic status of a PPK. I have a lot of respect for the Sig Sauer brand, and may be sliding into rabid fandom based on the three I have, so I'm not unbiased-- but the P250 subcompact looks like a very spiffy pistol and the price is pretty nice, too.

I bought a 250sc in 9mm and liked it very much for the short time I had it. I traded it unfired. This was not due to any perceived issues with the 250, but as I remember I stumbled across another Browning Hi Power and had to cobble together trade items quickly. Kinda regret the loss of the 250sc and thought about one in 45acp but have not pursued it. A smaller hammer-fired DAO Sig that I like very much is the P290rs which I fear is under appreciated and occupying an ever smaller portion of Sig's product line.

If you like the way the P250 sub compact fits you and can find one that has a decent trigger, I would say go for it.

Yes, the CZ RAMI is a really neat little pistol as well. I have to confess that I totally adore CZ brand pistols. The CZ-75 that I used to own was my favorite handgun ever. Even more so than my Sig 1911 and Springfield Champion 1911, both of which I loved. In 2013 I came down with encephalitis, and so I had so sell a bunch of guns that I didn't want to get rid of. Medical bills were HIGH, (digressing here).
However, the CZ RAMI is a little fat for my carry tastes, even though I do really like them.
And yes, I do really like my CZ P07. Not as much as my previous CZ 75, but it is nice nonetheless, and has yet to fail in any way. I'm not sure how many rounds are through it at this point, probably no more than 600, but it's great.

Oh yes, the P290rs are quite nice, in fact I previously owned one. Very very small.

MMMMMmmmm. Hi Power, love em. If I didn't have my CZ P07 that might be what I have for home defense.

KB308, you've listed 6 reasons why the P250 would be great for you so you've answered your own question.

My FiL likes his Sig 250 very much. I have shot it a few times and thought it was a nice pistol.

Yeah, I suppose you're right. I just wanted some opinions but I do like the P250 a lot ;)

Looks like the centerfire P250 is no longer a current model. Might want to get one quick if you decide it's for you.

I love my P250.

You probably already know this, but the P250/320 series are modular - the trigger group is the serial number part, and it can be put into grip frames of different sizes, and accept top ends of different sizes. Once you have you subcompact, you can get the parts to make it a compact or full-sized pistol right through the mail with no FFL. You can also change the caliber to .380, 9mm, .40, .357 Sig, or .45acp.

The grip frames also come in three sizes - small, medium, and large, in addition to subcompact, compact, and full.

Sig seems to be phasing this pistol out in favor of the 320, so if you want one I wouldn't wait too long.

If I were buying a new small semiauto tomorrow, it would be the Ruger LC9s PRO. Feels great in my hand, trigger is much better than my Glock 19, Shield, or Kahr P9. I've seen them from a couple of vendors for $299, although they are $389 at the gun stores.

Oh yeah? Interesting, I guess they're just making the P320 now? Thanks!

It may be best from a practicality and price standpoint, but man, I just can't stand the way they look! So, question regarding them: Have they proven to be good and reliable so far? Since I don't like their looks, I haven't followed them much. (By the way, I did try one with that new trigger, and it is immensely better than the older trigger, but I don't PERSONALLY remember it being particularly excellent to me, but that is the way with pistols I guess.) :)

Speaking of triggers, I can't stand the SR9 triggers, blagghhhh. LOL

Yes, the modularity is one of the neat things about the P250 that just adds a bit of icing on the cake for me. However, in all honesty, being the way that I am, I'll probably go a different route and buy a totally different pistol one day a couple years in the future once I've got my P250 secured. I love variety. ;) Great points though!
