Had an early dentist appointment yesterday so I just took the day off. Lots of chores to catch up on with the 7 day schedule I work, and it was close, but I did find an hour to finally try out the GP100 with the new grips. Certainly like em on there, and they fit me pretty good. I found the grips for the Super Blackhawk not long ago for a very good price shipped free, so what the heck, I'd give them a whirl too. Not too bad with the magnum loads and look much better than the rubber I had been using.
Shot 120 rounds between both revolvers., punched a little paper, exploded a few gallon water jugs, and shattered a bunch of clay birds from the 20 yrd line.
Made for a fine evening

@Pat Riot. That's a Hogue hardwood , they call it Cocobolo. Also a Hogue hardwood on the Super Blackhawk , they call that Pau Ferro. Got that for much less than I've seen em go for, so figured I'd try it on the Magnum.
Yes mate, good to get some downtime and a little shooting in
@NorthBorder yes I have the same rubber for this particular, but the price was too good not to check our the woody. So far, I like them both, especially on the GP

Thank you. I wondered if that was a Hogue. I looks like the same shape as the Hogue rubber grip that came on my GP100.

I have a hardwood Hogue on one of my Dan Wesson 15-2’s. They look and feel great, but on the midsize frame with a barrel at 4” or less they are a pretty large grip for the gun.

Stay safe.

Agree it is a bit big on that 3 inch 44 Special, but comfortable and I sure like the feel better than the rubber

Beautiful grips! The wooden handle that came with my Match Champion are similar, but have never pleased me. Hogue grips? I may want to upgrade in the near future!:)

I consistently replace the grips on double action revolvers. I strongly dislike the huge gap between the rear of the trigger guard and the front strap of the grip frame. Hard on my knuckle.

I also find my hand - which I've had for a long time - routinely does not align with 'finger grooves'. So I prefer 'ungrooved' grips, usually without checkering.

I have somewhat the same problem...I had to sand the finger grooves off a set of Herretts I had on my 586. The only comfortable finger groove grips I have now are no-name rubber wrap-arounds on my Ruger MK II pistol.

I forget just who first posted wood is for show, rubber is for go but I certainly agree. Want to see something truly ugly? Try a 4 1/2" Ruger BlackHawk with Hogue rubber grips. The 7 1/2" Super BlackHawk is almost as bad but the comfort and ease of holding makes the ugly go away when I am shooting my examples.
