I had a Tristar 311 12ga. side by side ----- BAD FIREARM --- VERY BAD Customer Service !!!!

After less then 100 rds. , the left barrel WOULD DISCHARGE when the action was closed hard !!! I ended up sending it back to Tristar THREE TIMES for the same reason !!!

Finally , after getting the SG dischargeing at a Cowboy match on video and threatening to get a lawyer --- Tristar agreed to send me a replacement and not try to "repair" mine AGAIN .

They sent me one that was a Demo or something ---- wood stock wa dented and scratched , the recoil pad was loose , the blueing was scratched , etc. etc.

I ended up selling it for $100 less then I paid for mine ---- I never tried to fire it -- I was just glad to get rid of it.

PM or email me and I can forward you copies of the paperwork from me sending it back to Tristar THREE TIMES !!!

that sounds terrible. experiences like that need to be brought out into the open here hopefully to keep a company like that honest. Did you make a thread about it when it initially happened?

Hi A,
No , I didn't ----- this was about 7 or 8 years ago , would have to look at the paperwork to be sure.
After getting the SG back the first time , I freaked when I slammed it shut and it went BOOM !!! I was ready for ANYTHING the second time I got it back , used a reload with no powder etc , only a primer -- BANG it went. So I then took it with me to the next Cowboy Shoot , explained to the RO my problem and had a buddy tape the results --- after the 2nd reload -- BOOM and I got it on video !!!
To be fair ---- I have read a bunch of GOOD things about Tristar SGs -- BUT -I still say I was VERY SURPRISED by the Cust. Service ---- I was not grumping about something like " my stock doesn't match my forend " etc. ---- this was a SAFETY issue that really could have been DEADLY !!!
BTW --- the 2nd time I sent the SG back , I DID inclose a BIG NOTE , that the problem would ONLY OCCUR IF YOU SLAMMED the gun shut.

yeah, a bad shotgun is understandable (although pretty dang dangerous), the fact that the customer service was so bad after giving you a defective at best and fatal at worst firearm is pretty inexcusable.

Stay away from them!
I have sent countless numbers of the semi's back to the manufacturer for repair...
