I was just rumaging around at the gun store today and looked at a Tristar Silver 20ga out of curiosity. Took it apart to find it is very similar inside and comes apart just like my A400 Beretta. It also uses Beretta mobile chokes. I have not been up on the TriStar shotguns. The price was attractive. Anything I should know? Are these shotguns copies of the Beretta A400?

is that the G2 silver? if so, I bought my viper g2 new and ignored the recommended break-in procedure. It did not function well. I loaned it to me brother in law to run a box a magnums though as per recommendation. He said it cycled them fine, but it kicked like a mule. But he usually shoots a browning 725 with light loads. Then I loaned to to my brother and he didn't shoot it. I just got it back and haven't used it yet either. Hopefully it works.

Long story short, seemed like a nice piece, but expect to need to break it in. But most online chatter is overwhelmingly positive.

If the Viper G2 Silver is a repackaged Armsan A620, and that's exactly what it looks like, it is a good shotgun. I own a Mossberg SA-20, which is the same gun sold by Mossberg. It will run 2 3/4" and 3" loads, has a strong action spring, and doesn't need to be spotless and perfectly lubed to work. My impression of Turkish shotgun is that they are equal in machining to budget American shotguns, for the same price or less, and they have a bunch of parts chrome plated while the American ones do not.

My only gripe with the gun is that the follower and magazine spring are captive inside the magazine tube, and require a dremil and some grinding to remove. That never made any sense to me.
