What are true pocket carrys for under 400? Both semi and revolver suggestions are welcome.......True pocket carry i mean average size pockets nothing that requires abnormally large pockets.

I currently have a Ruger LCP and love it but was curious of other options to mix it up

Smith 642 definitely. Im not sure of the price now but I bought mine new for under 400. Its always with me and only weighs 15 ounces.

I picked up a S&W 638 bodyguard for under $400-NIB
fits perfectly in my front/rear pocket
Reliable-what more can I ask for? :D

Yes. The 642/442 are DAO. And my vote is also for either or these two guns. They fit comfortably in the front pockets or BDUs, Carhartts, and at least some of my jeans. They work best with a side cut pocket. $395.

Those that own or are familiar with the 642 what pocket holster do you use? Scott thanks for the info btw

The only difference between the 442 and 642 is the finish. I have a 642 and love it! They are DAO but have some of the smoothest triggers. Many of your pocket autos are DAO, for safety reasons. I won't carry a handgun in my pocket if it can't be carried double-action. In a personal defense situation I just want to point and shoot. No safety for me to fumble with.

Try a DeSantis Nemesis. Mine fits my j-frame M-37, my Kahr PM9, my Kahr P45, and my Kimber Ultra Carry. I think it is designed for a mini-Glock (26/27).

That's a lot of verstility for one $15 pocket holster. I've owned at least four so far.

If I'd quit giving them to friends I wouldn't have to keep buying them... :)

Keltec- P32, P3AT, PF9, P11
Beretta- Jetfire, Tomcat
S&W- J frame snubs
Taurus- their small revolvers and dupes of the little Berettas

That's just off the top of my head.

What is the idea pocket holster for a 642?

Robert Mika pocket holster. He's getting further backlogged though; I ordered one for my Beretta Tomcat back in July and it still isn't here.

I got a Kel Tec P-11 a couple of weeks ago. It's well within your price range, fits nicely in my pocket, and is no fun at all to shoot.

Before that, I carried a Taurus 605 in .357 w/.38+p.

I'd recommend either one.

If you really shop around you can find a Seecamp LWS32 for that price. Now that is a true pocket gun for normal size pockets.

True carrys

What they said about all the keltecs. I own them all. Perfect pocket revolver is a SW 642, as has also been said. No exposed hammer to snag on the draw or catch on pocket material if you had to fire it from inside your pocket. No safety, and if you have a ftf, just pull the trigger again. Plus it is lightweight, and rated for 38+p.

I'd love to carry 45acp, but the options are all fairly heavy and bulky. For the size, you could almost carry a snubbie 44, IMO.

I like carrying a S&W 642 in a Mika holster. It's very confortable, and I don't even really notice it's there. I carry that gun almost everywhere, even in the office. I also carry either a Glock 30 or Para SSP 1911 IWB as my main carry. Obviously, I can't carry the G30 or 1911 to certain places, mainly work.

I also like to put an extra 6 rounds in a speed strip stuck in the other pocket just to have some backup ammo if I'm carrying only the 642.

You simply cannot beat a good ol' S&W J-frame "lightweight" (aluminum framed) . . . as so many of us have found out through the years toting various handguns.

You can easily fine decent, used J-frames within your budget, and have money left over for a holster or two. Heck, even NEW ones can be had for probably within your limit . . . though I prefer the pre-lock earlier S&W handguns.

Here's my pristine little 1971 S&W Model 37 Airweight, along with the Uncle Mike's #3 pocket holster it rides in. I just slide it in the front pocket and can take it anywhere I can legally conceal without anyone even noticing it is in the pocket!!! The Uncle Mike's pocket holsters sell in the $10-$15 range, if I recall.

The Mika and the DeSantis are also great little holsters, and a tad better (though a little more expensive too).

Good luck on finding the right weapon for YOU . . . but I'd seriously recommend any Airweight (but NOT AirLite) J-frame. They come in hammerless, humpback ("Bodyguard") and exposed hammer (Chief) versions. All are great! And, SERIOUSLY, you'll sometimes forget you've got an Airweight in your pocket! The best CCW gun, is the one that you'll not have problems concealing or toting . . . AND one with accuracy and sufficient up-close power. That's a J frame!

Kel Tec PF9/P11 in docker sized pockets. I also pocket a M85SSUL Taurus, but the P11 is a little smaller and more pocketable. P3AT is a good bit smaller, almost identical to your LCP. I also have a NAA mini revolver in .22LR and, of course, it's the smallest, most concealable gun I can think of. I carry it when I really can't carry. :D Hey, .22 is better'n nothin' and, believe it or not, I can easily hit a man's eye at 7 yards with it. I have a "holster grip" on the gun to make it shootable. Hard to grip the thing with the standard grip it's so small, but the gun folds into the holster grip, flips and locks open like a jack knife. Neat little gun, but not my daily carry. I take it along as a back up sometimes and occasionally I carry it because I don't wanna carry like at my daughter's wedding the other day, LOL. It's okay, was on private property and the groom was totin' his SP101. :D

BTW, the P11 is a LOT of fun to shoot. That's why mine has 11,000 plus rounds through it. I'll put 100 rounds a session through the thing. Very accurate and I like plinkin' the 6" falling plates with it at 25 yards. A Hogue Handall and a finger extension from KT for the magazine will help fill the hand. Recoil ain't bad with standard ammo like WWB. +P will rock ya a bit, but it's not so bad compared to an SP101 with full house magnums.
