Tucson man to pay back $180K after shotgun rounds sparked Molino II wildfire

Idjit. It may be desert but there's no shortage of plants that will burn.

We had the Spring Creek Fire that burned 108k acres here in Southern Colorado. It was started by a Danish illegal whose visa expired. He tried too extinguish it by fanning it with a blanket. Biden Admin dropped the charges because he was held to be mentally incompetent. Too bad they didn't deport him but if he's still in the area of the burn, the locals may take revenge.

^^^^ Exactly what I thought. Why even bother to prosecute at that rate.

People like this become the face of public land shooters to the general public.
Seen worst at public ranges. What we need to realize is, members on this forum are the cream of the crop, in regard's to shooting safety and shooting culture.

I’ve seen some stuff that will make you puke 🤮 and run for your life. Backwood & Backhood country people don’t care.

I,m tired of retards that shoot glass, containers flammable liquids, those explosive binary targets and leave big messes that makes all the normal hunters and target shooters look bad.
Retards? Really? Good thing this isn't a woke site. Anyway, so, uh, wait, you're referring to Tannerite? Lots of responsible shooters use it -- I use it frequently (usually on private property), and so do a lot of other THR members -- and so long as you police up your target area after you're done, there's absolutely no problem with using this stuff. For the record, I've also been know to use tracers. But only after it's been raining and the grass and foliage is wet (which is, after all, most of the time up here in the PNW).

Be careful you don't lump your fellow members in with the slobs and the morons.

Interesting. For the Border Patrol Agent that started a similar fire a few years ago (tannerite gender reveal), they took $200k from his retirement account and he's paying $500/month, with total restitution being $8,188,069.

Seriously? The backwoods people probably care more about the land and what lives on it than the "cream of the crop" who dwell in the cities and suburbs. Yea, "Bubbas" exist, but how about you don't paint us all with a broad brush.

Mac
I grow up in the backwoods & backhood. Sandhills of North Carolina. unless it was a private land owner, lots of them (including me when younger) didn’t care about the land, just dumped and tore it up

That hasn't been my experience; not saying it isn't true. I've lived in the "backwoods" all my life and I can tell you that most folks (at least around here) do care about the land, and wouldn't do anything so foolish as the subject of the OP. Again, "Bubba" does rear his ugly head at times but not as often as you'd think.

They are also the reason I don't go to public ranges unless I am competing.

There are lots of idiots out there. I'm not one to force knowledge on someone, so I just try and avoid them.

even the public shooting lands and hunting lands are tore up here in Washington State.

I don't have a problem using that stuff reasonably and cleaning it up. But there has been ranges around here damage by using to much of it and blowing up target racks and other damage. Plus most ranges around here have neighbors that are used to the sound of gunfire and are ok with it. But you get some huge explosions then the police get called and someone wants to shut the range down.
