Tumbling media

Still you always want to wash the brass IMO. just dirt and dust are abrasive and get inside the cases no matter what media.
Dies and expander buttons will last longer and will not scratch them nor wear them unnecessarily.
I mean one could wipe them clean but then it is hard to clean the abrasive dust inside many rifle cases.

I also use a Thumlers Model B with stainless pins for media, but my sequence is a little different from what others have mentioned here. I do the following for everything from 22 Hornet to 30-06 and several in-between:
  1. Decap and Resize fired cases
  2. Soak cases in solution of liquid dish soap and LemiShine water softner (optional) for anywhere from two minutes to two days. (Length of time in soak is just a matter of convenience.)
  3. Transfer soak to tumbler, add a little more water, and tumble for an hour.
  4. Rinse in cool water and separate cases from media using a basic RCBS rotary separator. After media is separated I use the separator to tumble the brass with a towel to absorb moisture.
  5. Dry--- Place the cleaned cases in a food dehydrator and dry at 125 degrees for an hour.
Results make for clean, shiny cases that are easy to work with :)
