Tumbling Primed Cases

I broke down some old 44-40 and 38-40 reloads. The cases are all tarnished and generally ugly.

Will tumbling the primed cases affect the primers?

Some will say "go for it". I won't due to degradation of the priming mix, media possibly blocking the flash hole, and.......perhaps a rim hitting another primer and setting it off.

Punch them out, clean then install.

Reload them, shoot them, THEN spend your time doing it all over again with a tumbling somewhere in the mix.

Tarnish and ugly doesn't affect performance, and it seems to me to be a huge waste of time making them pretty after you've already got them primed.

I've been doing it for year and never a problem. Just use dry medium and you will have no problems.

I would either A) deprime, tumble, re-prime and load like normal, or B) load, shoot, and then go about your normal process.

Dirty (tarnished) cases shoot just as well as clean shiny cases.

Yes, just load them.
