Well, it's Cslinger's birthday next week. The big 30. I do believe this calls for a new .30 caliber toy.

He already has a Garand, a .308 Savage, and also occasionally shoots MY M1 Carbine.

So, what't next on the list? Suggestions?

Thanks
Sheslinger

An AK? An SKS? (OK, those are technically 7.62x39 and from a metric country, but hey...)

In .30-06...M1903 Springfield

Anything in .300 Win Mag or .300WSM

In .308...SA M1A, FAL clone, G3 clone, or AR10 if there's money around

Hey I'm turning 30 myself.... tomorrow. I had to go buy a gun today to ease the pain ;) The .30 cal for age 30 is a good idea.... I bought a handgun. You should get a M1A or maybe a nice FAL.
Happy Birthday!

Since the dude's already sporting the Garand and Savage, and you did use the word "toy," I think the first choice has to be an AK variant and the second choice an SKS.

How about a G3 in 7.62 NATO?

I have one and while I've got low milage on it (only 100 rounds), I like it a lot.

(Hmmm. I bought myself a .38 for my 30th b-day. What should I get when I turn 38?)

Oh yeah I already have an AK varient(VEPR II) and an SKS (Yugo Darn C&R license.

Ahhh 30.............groan. When exactly did I grow up and get old? When did it happen? I swear I didn't get the memo.

Keep the suggestions coming.

I would love a G3/HK but don't have the money. Those things are big big bucks since the darn 89 ban.

I'd love to have an HK91, too. Mine is a Century clone. Still, it seem put together well. It functions good and mags are dirt cheap. If you see one in person defintely take a close look.

A FAL or G3 variant from Ohio Rapid Fire is not too terribly expensive..

no, no, no That means I can't buy a b-day gift for myself next year. I mean, how many .31 caliber guns are there? And wait, does that mean I've gotta wait 20 yrs to buy a .50? no, no, no.:what: :cuss:

Well, we'll all have to wander around the Pope show and find you something.

And 30 isn't old. There are two stages of old. 36 and 42. At 36 you can legally date women half your age. At 42 you can buy them drinks. No that I recommend trying mind you - methinks the missus might object.

Bryan (who is one year short of the first stage of old)

Go with the '03A3. Then you can use the same ammo as your Garand. Think of the money you'll be saving. :D

Hopefully you're 30th will be immeasureably better than mine was. My car was totalled when I was run off the road in PA by an 18-wheeler and I ended up having to visit the ER when I got home.

BTW, you're not old yet. Mostly because if you're old, then so am I, and I refuse to get old gracefully. I'll be 33 on the 23rd of this month. I'm not buying a gun to celebrate, but I think Angie got me some reloading dies as a gift.

Frank

Nah! You need a 30mm for your 30th birthday! Might be hard to find in your budget but I recommend the GAU-8/A.

Seriously I'll second a vote for the FAL imposters. I like my R1A1 from Century. At $500 it wasn't a bad deal at all.

Okay, so what time are we going to show up on Saturday to harrass, *ahem* I mean encourage Cslinger in his hour of need?

Maybe we could all wear red carnations for identification. :D

How about a early noon meeting time, say 11:30ish out front maybe. Then we all that can go, head to some decent resturant for a late lunch. Like we did a few months ago, that was fun.

ill get the word to darrin if he hasnt seen this yet, and rod. anyone else down for some gun drooling then mouth watering food :D ? if anyone wants to carpool also let me know. darrin comes from mt. juliet, rod comes from joelton, and i from brentwood we can meet anywhere basicly. we usualy meet at our office to carpool which is at the fairgrounds.

ya you need some more milsurp cheap fun :D

Dunno if I'll be able to make it or not. Gotta finish Christmas shopping. Gotta get ready for a road trip to Florida. Gotta start on swapping the motor in Mom's car. Gotta finish the motor on my truck. Gotta......

Bah, bumhug! ;)
