Twins might be stretching the description a bit though both are cut from the same cloth. The differences in appearance are compliments of a robust aftermarket giving these rifles more support than any other muzzleloader I can think of.

Having owned multiple T/C rifles I count myself a fan and while I’ve strayed now and again I’ve always come back to what works best for me. The same can now be said of my father who after owning CVAs and Knights relented again.

Having owned 4 Thompson muzzleloaders (I still have 3) I find their consistency a cut above the 3 others I’ve owned and I’m never shy when recommending them to those unfortunate souls who, like me, are restricted to smoke pole deer hunting in backward States. For anyone looking for a well designed in-line the Pro Hunter is a good value in a versatile package.

I have no affiliation with Thompson Center or their parent company, just an appreciation for how they perform.

Dad’s new T/C with Bushnell Elite. Yes I finally talked him out of a Leupold.

My T/C, one of 3 I currently own.

My daughter posing next to our opening day bucks, both taken with T/C muzzleloaders.

The only smokepole T/C I own is their Hawken rifle. Yes, I know it isn't a true copy. I've never found any interest except for traditional muzzleloaders but the T/C would be my choice if I changed my mind. I'm also a fan of the contender and use one frame with a really good trigger and three barrels.

Another fan of TC’s traditional black powder rifle line. However, if I was to go the in-line route they would be first in line* for my consideration.

*You see what I did there?

My journey began with a New Englander and a Williams peep sight. Wonderful rifle I regret selling to this day. Coincidentally, dad bought me that rifle when I was 14 or so and owned its twin in a left-handed version.
