My LGS is infamous for high prices. His advantages are 1) he's local and 2) he's very good about letting me put a gun on layaway and making payments on it. I'm currently paying for a Colt Mustang 380 and a CZ 75D Compact 9mm Luger.
If anyone has any comments on these pistols I would love to hear them.
Range reports to follow.

Safe shooting,

Dave

The Mustangs are damn fine guns in general and in particular, lend themselves to brilliant upgrades in the hands of premium armorers like Terry Tussey.

Of course, their domination of their particular market has been seriously invaded by *micro-9s* but the new-9s presence does not negate the Mustang as far as I am concerned.

I’ll second, the Mustang was (and is) a great little gun. As was stated, they’ve sort of been supplanted by mini-1911 guns like the Micro 9 and the plethora of striker-poly .380 and 9mm guns popular today.

I certainly would bring a Mustang home if I saw a nice one in my price range .

Let us know how they look, and shoot, when you get a chance. :)

Stay safe.

Ive had several Mustangs and their big brother, the Govt.380. They are great little pistols which are even better with some trigger and guide rod upgrades.

Factory Colt or Metalform mags are good, but, just like the OEM 1911 magazines, are welded shut, so you cant change the springs if they get weak. Make sure to test all magazines well before carrying them.

One thing I noticed about the Mustang, especially the aluminum-framed Pocketlite version, is they dont tolerate limp-wristing. Hold it tight and squeeze, though, and they will feed just about anything reliabily.

I'm another fan of the CZ 75D Compact. It's a great shooter, accurate and reliable.
Both guns are very good choices. I hope you enjoy them both.

I have a CZ75D PCR Compact. It's in stock condition, no upgrades of any kind if you don't count the wood grip panels.

The factory single action trigger is creepy if you add pressure slowly like a target gun. The double action trigger is about like any other double action trigger. The gun shoots to point of aim with the sights and is as accurate as a compact service pistol can be with a factory trigger.

You either get accustomed to the PCR trigger or you pay for trigger work. I'm pretty much accustomed to the PCR trigger for what I want the gun to do, which is to be easy to shoot well and be accurate at home defense distances.

I have a Colt Mustang and a CZ P01 (a.k.a. CZ 75 D Compact). Both are well made and finished, super reliable, and comfortable to carry. The trigger on the Mustang is particularly nice and the two guns are very accurate (though I have to say the sights on my SIG P238 are a bit of an improvement over the sights on my Mustang).
