One an open toe for a 3¾" Ruger (Uberti 4¾" pictured) and a stitched toe for a 5½" Ruger mid-frame flat-top. Both in oxblood with new border stamping patterns and retention straps.

fantastic work as usual! great job on both, and nice detail on the retention strap.

Thanks guys!

A lot of makers just tool the strap and then the snap goes wherever it goes. I wanted it to look like it was part of the design and so determined the location of the snap before stamping around it. I thought it turned out nicely.

i like the reversal of the stamping on either side of the snap. looks great!

Looks good!
I'm a DA guy, but those holsters really give me a hankering a for a Blackhawk.

Thank you! After I took the pics I realized I probably should've left the plain black checkered grips on the blued flat-top so as to not distract from my leather work. :p

A beautiful work of art! I really like it!

A question of practicality, though...I own a western-style gun belt with the classic leather loop for the hammer. The length of the retention straps looks to be awkwardly long from the standpoint of reaching to unsnap and draw the pistol.

How does it work in real life for you? As a regular belt worn holster (as opposed to being fitted to a gunslinger style gun belt), reaching the strap by hand for either strong arm draw or cross-draw doesn't look too bad. But how is it for drawing the pistol afterwards?

And, more importantly, whenever I finally get around to buying that Colt .45 Peacemaker I've always wanted, how do I go about getting you to part with one made specifically for it?

:D

Personally, I don't care for them. I much prefer a thong for all the reasons you noted. A strap is too slow and you can't fold it out of the way if you don't need it. A properly fitting holster should not need 24/7 retention. I only use my thongs when I think I might need it and that's not too often. As Jaymo will attest, that 1862 won't come out of that Slim Jim unless you want it to. It's not overly tight, it just "fits". Even a Threepersons like above, they won't fall out even inverted unless you shake them out. So I prefer a thong because it's out of the way when I'm not using it.

Some folks just prefer the security of a strap and I provide that if desired.

Send me a PM whenever you're ready. Hopefully I'll be getting a website up before too long. :)

Sweet! I just put you on my Contacts List so I'll remember that.

I bought my aforementioned gunslinger holster a few decades ago to fit a Peacemaker replica I bought as part of a costume setup. Over the decades, my waist has "matured" from that youthful 28 inches to something between 34 and 36 inches, so that belt only just barely fits any more...on the last notch.

I've found lots of newer ones around, but nothing with the level and type of tooling I enjoy on that one. When I get the real thing, I wouldn't mind shelling out for something of like craftsmanship and quality...and would be happy to make arrangements to have one made. I look forward to it!

:)

Nah, I have no illusions of making a bunch of money doing this. I do it because I enjoy it and it gives me a creative outlet that I don't get with my job. My prices are very reasonable and whatever I make above expenses just goes into my gun fund. ;)

This business model...familiar it sounds. :)

Very clean work - they look extremely nice.

Regarding the strap argument the favorite of mine when I use one utilizes a double set of snaps on the top. You attached the back one via a snap on the belt tunnel. At the longest setting it rides like your photos and at the shorter it rides over the front sight. In the latter application you just flip the strap forward and draw. Much more natural motion for me.
