I just went to the store to get a few things when (I will be nice) a young lady stopped me and told me she just called the PD on me due to she is very offended and insulted about 2 of my stickers on my truck. Now all they say and keep in mind they have been there for about a year. 1st Keep honking I am reloading, 2nd Warning driver only carrying $20.00 worth of ammo. It took less than 5 min. befor the leo's got there. he heard what she had to say then me. After that he told the young lady that there is nothing wrong with what I had on my truck and there is nothing he could do. She was so Pis*** when she walked away she yelled this is not over. the leo told me to have a good day and sorry for what just happen. I told him no prob and later. You gota love them leo who knows what is right and what is wrong.

Just curious, did the officer ask if you were carrying? Do you carry?

I'm in california and i would like to get a permit but it's not so easy. I don't want to risk losing my gun rights by carrying illegallly but i think it is important.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Was this lady visiting from San Fran or what?! That's hilarious! I can't believe someone called the cops because of your bumper stickers. It's pretty rare that a gun grabber actually comes out and says they don't support the second ammendment OR the first ammendment. Crazy stuff. Where was this?

You should relay your story in a letter to the editor of the local paper and then wrap up the letter with a little lesson on free speech so everyone else can have a good laugh at this lady.

I had to email this story to my parents. It's just too good. I've never heard anything so absurd as calling the police for someone's bumper stickers.

I'm trying to figure the logic of this one. You had pro-gun bumperstickers. So she called the police because.....?? And what were they supposed to do? Make you take them off? Arrest you for inciting a riot? And this was in TEXAS ?? I thought they sold ammo at the 7-11 down there. Can't figure some people.

I personally don't like stickers on my vehicle, I do have a college parking decal to a college I used to attend, I still use their Library and don't get hasseled when I park. My current college uses hang tags. :)

I don't want to advertise, in a former life that could get me in trouble...hence the reason I didn't put a apt parking sticker on my vehicles.

Years ago before a Sporting Good store went out, I was using a Dolly to take out about 10 cases of ammo. A Couple from New Jersey like to of had a stroke, they were in to buy soccer and tennis stuff for grandcritters. I wheeled by again with 2 MEC reloaders and cases of clays...

They actually ran up to the Off Duty officer doing security, he asked me step over as I returned the Dolly, another officer was watching my truck.

I told them I had a lot of shooting to do, and needed to reload in order to shoot even more...

They didn't appreciate the fact the officer and I got to laughing ...as I tried to explain...Then they noticed the long guns in the racks , handguns in the displays, ammo on the shelves and shotgun ammo by the case on the floor...I pointed out the Reloading section in cased they missed it.

"ya'll come back - ya hear". :D

sm,

I'm sure they ran back to Jersey and told their crazy-gun-totin' Texans story.

I personally dont like stickers on my car, but thats neither her nor there.

Some people just need to get a life, this "lady" is definitely one of them.
I can't believe this happened in Texas! Whats this world coming too!

For those who don't know, we in Texas have a certain place that almost all of the nuts and fruitcakes can live, and where the rest of us can observe them in relative safety and teach our children about them - kind of like you observe animals in a zoo, behind a wide pit or big fence, and teach your kids about them. This place is called "Austin," and I'd wager that this is where the incident in question occurred.

Be warned: sometimes the inmates escape and settle in Houston.

That all being said, I don't have any bumper stickers except one for Bush-Cheney '04 (and that is there specifically to annoy the few lieberals who live here). I don't like to advertise that I'm a gun owner, as it will (IMHO) only attract thieves. Nonetheless, anyone has a right to have bumper stickers on their car, and this walking and (regretfully) talking example of PC censorship can shove it up her netherregions.

I'm a cop in TX just 30 miles south of Austin so a call like this is certainly possible. I'd like to know what she told the dispatcher to have an officer assigned this in the first place. Sounds like she needs to be arrested for False Report.

I work in Austin and live just west of the city, and this incident sounds very much "in character" with some of our resident tree huggers.

Too bad you didn't see if her car has "Keep Austin Weird" or "Worship the Goddess" bumper stickers.

Actually, you're lucky in a way. Lefties who don't like either the 1st or 2nd Amendments aren't much for property rights, either. She could have waited until you were out of sight before deciding to vandalize your car . . . that's one major reason I don't have any bumper stickers on mine. (There were a few incidents of people with pro-Bush stickers getting their cars damaged in and around Austin over the past few months.)

Are you in the San Marcos area? In live in San Antonio, but the giant magnet that the outlet malls use keeps dragging my wife up there. :fire: :barf:

I have another question, just out of curiosity: when you pull someone over for some reasonably innocuous offense like speeding 5-10 MPH over the limit, and you find that you're dealing with a CHL holder, do you treat them any differently (i.e. are you more likely to give one of us a break)? What do your fellow officers say about that, if anything?

Like I said, I'm just curious - I haven't even been pulled over in 4 years of being in Texas, and only 4 times in 22 years of driving before that (not that I haven't deserved it just a few times, mind you :D ). I've heard that many officers tend to give CHL holders a break, knowing that they are otherwise very law-abiding citizens. OTOH, some say that a law-breaker is a law-breaker, regardless of what cards are in their wallets. What say you?

uhhh this sounds quite typical of Austin. I live in Austin and love it, with exception of the tree hugging liberals who seem to flock to Austin to escape the rest of Texas.

I had a nebhoor call the cops on us because we were loading guns into our truck to go skeet shooting. We simply wait and talk with the officer. About 2 second after looking at my "Austin skeet and rifle range" sticker he pretty much laughed this call off. He expalined to the lady that what we were doing was perfectly legal and then thanked us for our patience and he left. The neibhoor still went around to all the houses around us and tried to cause trouble. I don't get some people! :cuss:

Incredible. I think she'd get laughed out of my neighborhood...

Agreed. Our system gets abused by world full of morons who think the job of the police is to be the playground supervisor.

I'm wondering when one of my neighbors are gonna call the cops on me. They haven't yet, even though I walk into my house with my Glock 17 tucked under my arm, my bag that plainly says police on the side and my tell tale black wind breaker.......still, you never know.

Believe it or not, shortly after being sworn in as a Police Officer, I was disarmed and ticketed by another cop in a different city. I guess theres one in every bunch. :banghead:

Well you are pretty suspicous looking :neener:

I would have had to run to my truck and leave as if I were trying to evade.
I would just have to laugh to myself when I thought about her trying to explain how she tried to detain someone for violating the bumper sticker sensitivity laws.

Sam,
I'm an ex LEO, but from about a hundred years ago and I couldn't speak for anyone else anyhow.

I asked this question a long time back on GT LEO.
All but 2 of the LEO that answered said that if the offense was a minor thing that they could go either way on writing a ticket or not they tended to give the CHL a break.
Of course the question was asked on a pro gun web site.

Personally, believe it or not but I try not to go over 3-4mph over the limit, but before I retired I drove 400 miles to the Gulf every Thursday and I got stopped about a dozen times.
I was stopped by everyone from the DPS to the money collectors in Lott (a big time speed trap).

Being an ex LEO I know not to be smart mouth or BS them that I wasn't actually doing 15mph over.
I just act friendly and polite and give them my CHL (as you have to in Texas).

When one local LEO said he clocked me at 74 (in a 60) I told him, "Sure enough, when I saw you and looked at the speedometer I was showing 75.

Almost every LEO that stopped me had a noticeable attitude change when I showed them my CHL.
And not that it would probably make a difference, I never said anything about being an ex LEO until we might be shooting the bull after the formalities were over.

I never got a ticket (couple warnings) in all these stops. I'm positive there were several times I would have got high dollar tickets if not for the CHL showing I was one of the good guys. :)

I would really enjoy "357Texas's" experience. The "lady" would have gotten a talking to. Not that she would have learned anything.

Gosh I miss Texas...

I was fortunate enough to go to Tech School in Texas. Even in San Angelo I had a blast. Bought my first Handgun in Texas (on my birthday) it was.......[flame suit] a GLOCK 21. [/flame suit] My ex-girlfriend went to school in Austin though, and man it's like another country all together 1/4 california maybe? Oh well all the contacts I had with LEO were overall good. I respected them, they respected me, everyone was happy.

The woman obviously called the wrong Police Department. She should have called the Thought Police.

Oh, wait. We're not quite there . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . yet.

Clarify - I'm in Central AR . We inform the kiddies that new White Trash Trailer [ Prez Library] is where weirdo' s a nd bad folks come and go - we call it "Enemy ID 101" :p

Houston never gave me a problem, nor did Dallas...Austin a bit wierd...

Only in TX can a fella ( me) get pulled over on a 2 lane highway..." Yeah I know I was speeding, I 'm packing ( hand license) but I'm runninglate I'm to go bust quail "

County Sheriff understands a 'true emergency' and " well hell best get you back up and running - take at right at..." :D

Darn right I was in the wrong, still no ticket...I stopped on the way back and bought that Deputy a Chicken Fried steak with all the trimmings. It is what one does...
