Had the opportunity to visit the Armory last week. Closed down in 1968 it now functions as a museum and National Historical Site. Exhibits range from flintlocks to the last rifle manufactured there, the M14.

Thanks so much for posting these pictures! Reminds me a great deal of the Armory in Williamsburg VA. Probably not a 1/4 of the size as what you had the chance to see but well worth visiting if you find the time.
Glad you were able to get good photos of the contract rifles. Wanted to compare the Colt in the picture to the original that was passed down to me. Have some future questions to ask abt markings on the stock in the near future that may be armory letters and numbers. Great photos, thanks for sharing.
 
The museum occupies one floor of the building. Here's some more pictures, the flintlocks are mounted in front of a mirror to show the mechanism.
