Hello to everybody. I am a Uk citizen and part of a website called: armbritain

http://armbritain.com

This is a site devoted to getting the right of self defence back to the Uk and we concentrate on tryign to get gun laws repealed such as the 1968, 1988 and 1997 Firearms Acts. We believe in the right to carry firearms for self defence a right which is inherent in nature and can never be legislated away from us no matter how tyrannical the government may become.

I hope if anyone wants they can visit the site and leave us a message of support or join and discuss with us.

I am not holding my breath. Currently in the Uk there is a review of Firearms legislation in the wake of the gun massacre in Cumbria and we are getting all shooting organisations together to rally against any further restrictions in the legislation so that they don't end up banning guns in the UK completely.

Best wishes to you, it takes a lot of money, time, lawyers, and politicians to get things like this fixed. I hope you find a few wealthy sympathizers and a lot of supporters!

It's always better to not surrender them in the first place because the shortcut is messy and without proper arms, I'm afraid, very brief!

The best for you guys across the pond.

I hope you success in fighting back for your God given rights.

Take care

If I have been informed correctly, in the UK there is no self defense allowed under any circumstances. Even a man who fights off an attacker with his fists will be arrested for assault and probably go to prison. (The attacker may be arrested, too, if the police care to look for him, but criminals, according to some legal authorities, should be allowed to act like criminals, but other people cannot be permitted to use violence.)

What a warped and corrupt system of justice!

I'm not aware of any law which actively prohibits self defense. By the book, the common law still controls. That means force must match force, and there is a duty to retreat. But in practice the police and courts are extremely hostile to anyone trying to fight back with anything more than a fist. Still, better to be judged by twelve as they say.

What about flintlocks? I recently picked up a .75 bore blunderbuss and have been reading up on the breed. It turns out they were the No. 1 personal protection weapon in England from the 17th century Civil War era through the Regency period in the 19th. They are handy, portable and extremely persuasive even without shooting them. The Englishmen would even have sayings engraved around the bell as an extra warning to criminals facing them ;-) They were the premier choice for anti-highwaymen weapons, and while not ideal these days if you put a stall cover on and kept priming powder nearby you could do worse. Anything in front of a buck and ball load is history.

Hey Kent it is hard for me to believe the British Empire has fallen so far in the last 100 years! Reminds me of the Zulu attack and no ammo because the Que was not proper! Your elected leaders should look at Mexico and what a disarmed population goes through when bad guys wanna be bad!
I hope you guys get it changed because there are many here that seem to like your countries road map...Just an opinion but Golly Gee Whiz I hope you guys can get stuff changed!

I wish our British friends luck, but would guess that the government is already building death camps for people even suggesting that HM subjects be allowed to own handguns or any guns for defense. (I am not entirely kidding; it was a Brit who told a U.S. Congressional hearing that the "only reasonable" gun control was summary execution of everyone who ever owned a gun and his or her family! Fortunately, even our nutcase liberals ignored him; maybe they thought about all those guns out there.)

Its been so long since the brits could defend themselves they forgot how to spell "defense":D

Good luck to you guys

As a guy who lives in the US version of the UK (aka: California), I feel for you. I just added a link to your site to my gun blog. Too bad the UK does not have something like the NRA to sue the pants off the tyrannical government. That's how we get things done around here... bury the anti-gun zealots up to their earlobes in costly litigation.

So I suppose that means if a BG breaks in and comes at you with a 3" knife, and all you have handy is a 4" blade you are SOL

No, that would be deadly force so you could (in theory) respond with deadly force provided you did not start the fight and your back was to the wall.

Good luck Kent. I read and heard from two English people (who live here in Memphis) that Parliament was planning to restrict the sales of knives.

By the way, somebody posted a link to an article about a guy in Canada who saw some guys throwing molotov cocktails or similar weapons at his house.
Because the homeowner responded with a gun (did he shoot?) the guy is in real trouble with the Crown.

I sincerely hope that you can visit one of our rural or suburban areas -away from New England might be best- and go to both an outdoor shooting range or even the outdoors (county or state land...).
Will gladly furnish some of my Lee-Enfields, the SKS and the ammo. You can afterwards buy a six-pack of Newcastle or Samuel Smith's beer.

I hope that you have Success. But you have not got a hope in hell of getting Pistols, Semi auto rifles,or any other gun law changed in the UK. I was on the march to try and stop them banning pistols. What good did that do?
UK gun owners are there own worst enemy.

If there is anything we can do to help let us know.

It pains me to see the rout your country has gone, considering Winston Churchill is a family hero here.
