Anyone having success cleaning units that can't be disassembled? I have a HF unit using Hornady gun parts cleaner and it doesn't seem to do much. I admit that part of the issue is probably the HF cleaner itself, but I'm wondering if a better unit, such as Hornady's might provide better results?

You wont penetrate the outer shell into the guts of the silencer with the ultrasonic waves. On stuff where there is direct contact they work OK. Inside a metal shield? Forget about it. The solvent may have some effect though.

Just the outside. The solution will get inside but you dont get the scrubbing effect .

Not disputing what you say, but trying to understand.

If I put a glass beaker with cleaning solution in an ultrasound cleaner full of water, anything in the beaker will be cleaned. The graphic artists where I used to work did this to reduce the amount of solution they needed to clean their Rapidograph pens.

You'll get some cleaning action but it will be dramatically decreased. Ive got ultrasonic cleaners and Ive got silencers. Been there.

I guess i need to get a better cleaner. I'd bought the Harbor Freight unit a few years ago and had never used it. I bet the ultrasound cleaner isn't good for tritium sights either.

Ive got a $800 Branson cleaner. It doesnt work worth a damn on the inside of the silencers. Not any better than soaking them in a bucket full of hot soapy water and picking them up every now and then anyway.
