My "uniform" for uspsa is changing due to health reasons. Twice ive tripped with a loaded rifle by dragging my toe when im tired. Once was a DQ, the other a reshoot because i controlled my rifle and didnt drop it.

Im 9 months post op from a laminectomy on L3 L4 &L5. Im still suffering from nerve damage in my right leg. I exhibit drop foot when fatigued. Today the game changes. I was fitted with an AFO spiral orthodic. All carbon fiber omg. My physical therapist and surgeon convinced me to give it a shot. Sceptical at first, but im one stubborn old guy. I can jog without gloves and a helmet. Its not a permant addition to my attire. Ill wear it at work and for physical activity like coming in last at the matches.

If it keeps me from whining about my leg and keeps me off my face, my superb shooting skill might make C class. Goals right? 20210617_104751.jpg

Hey good on your doctors for setting you up with that! Maybe you can send me their info and they can get me something that will steady up my offhand position with my Sharps 45-70 LOL!!

Good luck NVcharlie! Go get some!!

Off hand with a 45-70 your a better man than I am !

Good Luck @NVcharlie
I truly hope it works for you.
I had surgery last year for a herniated disc that was pressing on my spinal cord between L3&L4. I had a numb right leg. After the surgery I had to give up Cowboy Action until I healed up. Then this past February I fell off the back of a hi-rail truck while towing trains at work and busted up my left wrist (had surgery) and hurt my back in the same area. Grrrr
Anyway, I thought I was going to have to have the spine fused in the same location as yours but it seems PT is helping.
I am hoping to be back at my game in a couple of months.
I am 60 with the mind and will of a 25 year old and the body of 60 that has been badly abused. I would list this damage but I don’t want to be “that guy”. ;)
Good luck! I hope that orthotic really helps you.

I had L2-L5 done in 2011. Had a dragging foot problem, too. One clown on the trap field asked, as I was changing stations, "you drunk or what?". I asked him if he, or anyone he could name, had ever seen me take a drink or seen me drunk. Then he saw my turtle brace, got a funny look and shut up. It got better over time and I'm back to mid 90s at trap. At 76.
