Unknown Copy of a Colt Walker Percussion Revolver

One of the main obvious giveaways that said walker is a fake is the markings. It looks like they were hand drawn and etched or hand engraved rather than stamped. Take a look at a real one for sale and compare how crisp it is: https://www.rockislandauction.com/d...ers-c-company-marked-u-s-contract-colt#detail Another thing you can immediately look at is the hammer. The hammer on the GB gun is awful and almost certainly an early ASM. But the first thing I always look at when trying to find out if a Walker is fake is the cylinder notches. I've yet to ever see a any reproduction with round cylinder notches like an original.

Two more differences:
The "2" in the company numbers - the GB the base is curvy but the RIA the base is flat
The "S" in the barrel addresses - the GB the ends are sans serif but the RIA has very pronounced serifs (the squiggly things at the ends of the letter)
I paid under $300 for my Company marked, Colt addressed Armi San Marco Walker last year but of course I did not have all the Italian marking so nicely defarbed nor the finish so well obliterated.
I wonder how many hours went into the antiquing of the GB offering and how much per hour the $1700 more amounts to?
Oh Well, I like mine just as it came from the Bresica factory!
