I'm always a sucker for guns that aren't your normal run of the mill firearm. Things like break top pistols, autorevolvers, and abnormal ammunition.

What guns have you run across in your travels that make you think "Well, that's neat"?
 
Well, I've never personally seen or handled one, but I've always gotten a kick out of the Dardick.
 
the gyrojet is really kinda a nifty concept,

the cz52's roller locking lugs are a dandy,

and yes the dardic is pretty cool with its trounds.

the cz24 machine pistol is a really nifty gun, you can see the influences it had on the uzi and other open bolt full autos. macs included.

the ak47 has a real gee thats neat gass operating system

the sks has a trigger group that makes you scratch your head and say, hmmm nifty.

the webly auto revolver is pretty cool,

so is the new one, can't remember the name starts with an M...

Striker 12 shotguns are cool,

so are ithica 37's (under loading, under ejecting through the same port)

and bunches of others.

Mateba is the autorevolver.

The CZ-52's operation is pretty neat... I haven't had the chance yet to examine an AK or SKS.
 
cant remember what exactly it is, but it was a pump gun with a twisty swirl type feed tube. supposedly to keep it full of rounds, and the tops of one bullet will not line up witht the primer of amother.
 
Im a sucker for revolvers and the break top models have always been at the top of my neat-o list.

The Nagant revolvers with their camming cylinder really seems a trick and I am going to get one as soon as my C&R comes in.

The pepper boxes were always neat to me.

My dad was into the GyroJet pistols and I remember him talking about them.

I also recall when the inline BP fashion came into being. Now taken for granted, that stuff was new a coupla decades ago and I was always taken with the concept. Still am.
 
The Fn five seven. A guy in a gun store told me that the military round can penetrated body armor and two phone books behind it. I think he said the dayton police department was testing it out. Matter of fact they had one for sale at about $900 and the ammo was $26.50 per box of fifty. If i could buy it id do so just to say that i own it:)
 
I've always had a fascination with "weird" guns...

The Nazi belt buckle gun. Two barrels of 9mm or whatever that swing out of your belt buckle and blast whoever was in front of you.

The Grave Robber gun system. When grave robbing was a very common thing. Rich families in order to safeguard their loved ones would buy these gun systems. It basically was a three shotguns mounted on swivels all connected through a serious of trip wires. Some robber would trip the wires causing all three shotguns to swing to his location and then BOOM....Collect the body and reset trap in the morning.

The Shot-Glove. Heavy duty glove with a pistol attached to the top. Talk about a heavy hitter.
 
older schuetzen guns, I only have a couple, one a ballard, one unmarked but from germany. I think they are pretty cool. stand up and shoot like a man on your hind legs..

I like pretty much anything that is not ready made. I have rem 700's an 70's and 77's but I like 99's and '71's and 86's expecially if they have a special order twist.

I want a darne shotgun, I think a rack and pinion instead of a break action is cool.
 
The delayed roller-locking system of the HK/ PTR rifles.

The feed mechanism of a pump shotgun, esp. the bottom-ejectors.

Top-break revolvers, esp. Webleys. How come nobody makes 'em anymore? :confused:

The operating system of a Luger.

The design and operation of a shotgun shell. To this day, shotguns still seem to me to be one of the weirdest, yet creatively effective, ideas in the world of guns. As someone who prefers rifles, the idea of blasting a large area within a close distance as opposed to 1/3" five hundred meters away is kinda counter-intuitive. But it's a really cool idea, and a really good way of doing things that'd take you decades to effectively learn on a rifle (like pheasant hunting).
 
Firearm...or Cyborg?

FN's PS90 (and the full-auto P90 wich looks about the same). This is not your father's assault rifle....more like the Terminator's. It doesn't just look weird either...it's got some freaky-deeky features like the horizontal mag that rotates each cartrige 90 degrees before feeding....ejects empties straight down. Fires the same round as the FN Five-seveN.

Weirdest by far I've had lately, was when a friend came back from a local shop happier than ever. He proceeds to unpack and proudly show me a Mateba revolver. Strangest creation I've seen in a long time. I guess he had been looking for one for a long time and the shop found one in a collection they bought out.

After researching them, so do I. Are they still being made? I ask because a couple of sources indicated that they are, but I couldn't find any links for a website or new production models.

Eh? There are new ones being produced. Of course, they're for cowboy action, so they're borderline useless for non-plinking purposes.
 
Really? I haven't heard that. Haven't heard much at all, really, aside from the usual line from the company about not using hot loads.

Anyone with a Laramie they'd like to volunteer for some tests? :D
