Unwanted Ruger revolver

I saw this Ruger DAO Police Service Six for auction listed and relisted for 7 months with no bids. The price was a little high, not listed as NYCPD special contract(rare), it's a DAO and 38spl vs 357 which accounts for no bids I guess. The serial number was in the range of the GF-84 NYCPD special contract run which was very short. I took a chance because I'm a sucker for a nice service revolver and got a Ruger letter confirming my suspicion it was indeed made for NYCPD. So, I adopted this unwanted revolver and bought her a pair of new shoes too.View attachment 998755
That is a beautiful weapon! It will be working long after we have left this planet. Good for you to take a chance!

I bought two Ruger Speed-Six revolvers (both .38), and they were advertised in SHOTGUN NEWS. No one bought them and the prices kept dropping like a rock. The barrel length was 3 inches and both were stainless steel. I bought them and took them to Alexandria, Virginia, to a gunsmith who converted them to .357s. He charged me $65 each and he did a perfect job. (I dropped a .357 Speer JHP bullet into each chamber and none of them fell through.)

I took one to the NRA range to test fire it and some guy a speed me if I wanted to sell it. The action was very good.
