I had not taken the owners manual seriously when it said to clean my AR before i shoot it the first time. I field stripped it, looked clean and oiled so i put it back together and to the range it went.

Ran great with prvi partizan or whatever 5.56, but remington umc (green and white box) .223 it short stroked about 4 rounds out of the 20 i shot.

I took it apart, cleaned it up good and lubed with hoppes gun oil and i bought some more .223 to see if it would do ok, or if it would only cylce well with the 5.56.

I bought 50 rounds of ultramax 55 gr fmj, and 40 rounds of wolf polymer coated steel case 55 gr.

Everything ran great, flawless except for one round of wolf, see my other post about that. I am very very pleased that it shoots the cheap .223 with no trouble, and i only had 80 rounds through it when i started today. That brings the total to 170, and i am convinced had i cleaned/lubed it from the get go i would have had no trouble at all.

Am i correct in thinking if it will shoot wolf and ultramax it will shoot any commercial .223?

ALWAYS thoroughly clean any new gun :)

Anyway - glad you like it. It is a sweet rifle. I am jeoulous :)

If it shoots Ultramax and Wolf OK, it should run with any commercial .223 as both of those are underpowered, lower grade ammo. The UMC problem sounds like just a bad lot of ammo if it works with Ultramax, Wolf, and Prvi Partizan.
