I'm selling my SAR B6P and looking to upgrade at least a little bit with my next purchase. I have a Taurus PT111 G2 so that I have a compact for when I get my CCL, so carry is not a concern with my upcoming purchase. Here's my must haves, strong preferences, and stuff that would be nice to have:

Max budget is $450, would prefer less.

MUST HAVES
-Reliable
-Recoil friendly (My B6P is pretty good, so basically nothing worse than that)
-Manual Safety (I just prefer to have one, I'm aware the best safety is keeping my booger hook off the bang switch, just a personal preference)

STRONG PREFERENCES
-DA/SA trigger (I really like my B6P)
-Relatively cheap magazines ($30 and under)
-Steel frame (I'd be OK with polymer or alloy, but I'd like a heavier gun than my B6P to reduce recoil a bit)
-Full size frame
-Good customer service

NICE TO HAVE
-Rail for mounting a weapon light, if I decide to eventually
-Inexpensive caliber (9mm would be great since I already have it, but I'm willing to branch out)
-Adjustable sights
-Decent aftermarket

So far, I'm considering a CZ P-09 (mags are expensive though and it is polymer), Tristar P120 (not much aftermarket) or one of the less expensive 1911's out there (no rails). None obviously hit all my desires but all seem like good investments from what I've read.

Oh, and NO GLOCKS. I don't like the ergonomics and as stated like a manual safety.

Main reason was to get something a little heavier (steel frame) to reduce recoil a little bit. Also would like to have rails for the option of a light. The fact that the P120 is very similar to the B6P with those two "upgrades" is one reason I'm leaning heavily towards it.

I misremember the model number, but I know there is a full-sized CZ75 "clone" from Turkey that has a steel frame. They run a little less than $300, IIRC.

I have a similar Italian "clone" and it is my favorite 9mm out of the six I currently have.

How about a Bersa Thunder Pro 9? It has a DA/SA trigger, frame rail, ambi safety, alloy frame, and is priced right around $400.

Full size steel Witness covers every item on your list, except for adjustable sights : windage only on the base model. A fully adjustable LPA rear sight is available, but kind of pricey. In 9mm it should last longer than you.

I'll 2nd the Witness. I have the Sar B6p compact and a full size .45 Witness.
The .45 doesn't kick so much as it just pushes back kinda fast. This is an older model before they trimmed down the slide.
