Couple of things for sure..

...

She's pure German, and is what the P220 was started around, 9mm.

The P220's are now only 45cal, and that gun is not made anymore, SO, from what I can see with those pics, she's looks in good shape, and the price may be good, but others will chime in that know much better. But as I said, that gun in 9mm is and was a great accurate platform shooter, along with, they're not made anymore, so, up the long years ahead, with whatever you do with her as far as sending her back to Sig to be completely refurbished, for something like 150 bucks, basically, you'll get back a new gun, *finish and all.

*IIRC

Could be a great shooter for ya, and in the long run, a good long term investment..

Let us know,

Update

Thanks for all the responses.

I found out about this on a local gun forum's "for sale" section.

However, I called my local Gander Mountain, and these typically run around $450 used, so I guess it isn't quite as much of a steal as I'd thought initially. If that's typical asking price at a brick-n-morter, I'd expect the seller to come down on price for a face-to-face sale.

If you want a Sig 9mm, get one of the P6s available for under $300 at a lot of places. Send it to Sig for a workover and you have a great gun for under $450. I haven't done a thing to my P6 other than to put normal Sig contrast dot/bar sights on it - a great shooter...

Looks like a Browning Double Action (BDA) version imported back in the 70's. The P-220 was imported into this country for a few years by Browning, who called the P-220 the Browning BDA. Seems to read "Browning" on the plastic grip panel when magnified.

Hmmm. I have no idea what such a pistol might be worth in your area. Anybody consider these as remotely collectible, value-wise?

I remember seeing them (chambered in .45 ACP, 9mm & .38 Super) NIB in the display case in the firearms/sporting goods section of the large discount-type store on sale for $279 back about 1979-ish.

Never saw one of the .30 Luger models, though. Dunno if they were imported, let alone in any quantities. Anybody else remember? One chambered in .30 Luger would be interesting ... but perhaps difficult to feed. ;)

Not bad price but I'd rather have the P6/P225, I feel the P220 in 9x19 is more of a collectors pistols. It is the Swiss and Japanese service pistol though. It's very large for a single stack 9mm.

A local defunct shop in 2005 had one for $650 as well as a P220 in .38super for $700. The 9mm took longer to sell but it did. I've only ever seen the 9mm P220 like 2-3 times locally.

I say go for it. The $450 that Gander mentioned are for imported
police trade inns. That gun is in very good condition and is an
excellent firearm IMHO.

Me thinks the Gander Mtn salesman was selling you a bill of goods.

9mm p220s are rare beasts and great shooters, big but stable and easy to shoot.

That one looks good.... take it or tell us where it is.

Some of you have expressed a desire to buy this sig so PM me and I'd be happy to send you the local forum link where it was advertised.

I'd post the forum link here, but my desire is to keep my location private.

Right now I'm plunking down more money than expected on another firearm, so while I'd really like to buy it, I can't justify the expenditure right now.

As far as I can determine, the 220 in .45 only made it to the USA.

Lots and Lots and Lots of 220s in 9mm were made for foreign markets and military contracts.

The $450 that Gander mentioned are for imported police trade inns.

I'd say you're right. I was at the local GM a couple of months ago and they had a police surplus P220 9mm (not a P6) for $450, but the one I saw was pretty beat up. If you have a chance to buy a non-surplus P220 in 9mm for that price, I'd say what are you waiting for?
