I reload for everything I've ever shot. Yes, it's OK as long as your loads are made up with safe published data. The slower powders like H-110, 4227, A#9 and 2400 will get you the highest velocities in a .45 LC. Lil'gun also looks very good, although I've never used it. There's a ton of data out there for the round. Some of the faster powders (for the Colt round) like Blue Dot and A#7, A#5, and Unique should be good for intermediate loads. If it works in a revolver, it will be fine in a carbine. Really, a pretty easy and versatile caliber.
