Next Saturday the Utah Defensive Pistol League is having a Handgun/IDPA shoot. It's more fun that you can haul in one of Kennecott's ore trucks, so come make some noise with us!

The shoot on the 25th will consist of 8 stages, with a minimum round count of 121. Bring more than that, unless you never miss. ;)
Registration is from 8:00-8:45. If you have never shot with us, you need to be registered before 8:30, which is when the new-shooter orientation takes place. At 9:00 the shooting begins! :D

You don't have to be a UDPL or IDPA member to shoot. You don't have to have the most "tactical" pistol on the block, either.

You DO need eye and ear protection.
You DO need a handgun, a belt holster, a few spare magazines, and ammo (see above about ammo count). Mag pouches are nice to have, but you can get away without having magazine pouches by using your back pocket.
It'll most likely be hot and sunny, so youll want a hat, and maybe sunscreen.

Hopefully we'll see some of you there!

The web site does not clearly explain exactly what the match consists of. ie: type of targets, yardage, time constraints etc.
It might be interesting to attend, if one understood what to expect after collecting the necessary equipment ( I do not have any OWB holsters except for my 1911's and that is not what I would shoot) and driving 40 miles to the site.

That is on purpose. They usually don't post the stage layouts until after the match so that you have to make judgments and decisions on the spot.

As far as holsters, you don't have to have an OWB. I use the same IWB holster that I carry with, both because it's really comfortable, and I want to practice with the same setup that I carry.
