Good on him.

As a Utahn, I appreciate our states gun friendly laws and atmosphere. Seeing as how everywhere south of provo is the sticks, we have a pretty gun friendly culture. I am sure in SLC it gets a little more normalized, but I tell ya' what, you head out to La Verkin or Virgin... or Gunlock... or Veyo, Beaver, Nephi, Delta... its a different story. Sure, we're a bunch of backwood hicks, but we know the value of a good pea shooter.

They just opened a sportsmans warehouse here in the south end, and I think its one of the most popular family stores around. At least when I am there :D

Yeah the comments board on KSL is starting to get a great deal of people questioning why he didn't just give up his car. Sign...Pathetic.

On the brighter side, he was using the same gun and pocket holster that I use in the hot, dry, shorts warin' days of summer :)

Maura Carabello, with the Gun Violence Prevention Center, believes Utah's permit laws are lax.

Maura Carabello, Gun Violence Prevention Center of Utah: "They could injure themselves, often not well equipped psychologically; they often don't know how to shoot or handle a weapon with proficiency."

She says what happened to Taylor is the best possible outcome, but not always the norm.

Maura Carabello: "My reaction in general, though, is we are lucky. We are lucky the permit holder is safe."

Just stay out of Park City. My in-laws live there....California type transplants. They'd be shocked, shocked I say, to find out people in Utah actually carry guns.

Mike Taylor, Concealed Weapon Carrier: "The police have their hands full with everything and I don't think they could be every place at once."

and

He never fired a shot. Clark Aposhian, Bureau of Criminal Identification Chairman says that is what usually happens.

Tha pretty much says it all. Good show.

. . . give up his car?

Those people are free to set up a "car donors" network (kind of like blood donors) and when a carjacker gets the irresistible urge to do a car heist, he can just show up at their center and they'll give him THEIR car.

After all, it's the civilized thing to do.

(Who was it that characterized the liberal mindset as "having an overwhelming sense of obligation that they mean to repay with your money?")

Hmmm ...

Maura Carabello, Gun Violence Prevention Center of Utah: "They could injure themselves, often not well equipped psychologically; they often don't know how to shoot or handle a weapon with proficiency."

How does this work, exactly? If what happened to Mr. Taylor is not "always" the norm, does that mean that it is sometimes the norm? Is that possible? Can something be the norm some of the time but not all of the time? If the norm is only a part-time norm, at what percentage of not being the norm does it cease to ever be the norm? You know, like if a positive outcome is only the norm one percent of the time, is that enough for it to still be the norm some of the time?

Great statement, Ms. Carabello. My head hurts just thinking about it.

It gets worse guys. When I first posted on this thread it was a relativly well written article. By the time it got noticed heavily here they had edited the article and added all of the liberal "lucky he didn't shoot himself" silliness.

KSL has failed to post about 5 of my comments on the discussion board. I guess I am not liberaly slanted enough.

"Not always the norm" is impossible. Either something is the norm or it is not. It can't "Not always be the norm."

This broad's lack of education is showing as well as her bias.

Utah carry permit system is lax?

I just recently went through the training to be certified to teach & sign off on Utah CCW applications. Compared to the last two states I've had permits in, they are downright retentive! :cuss:

Exactly!

"lax"... what do they want - a full Top Secret background and a week at S.E.R.E. school for a carry permit?

Yeah, KSL is a veritable hotbed of liberal rhetoric.

I'm not sure if you're joking when you say that or not, but IME, the statement is true... KSL is a bunch of feel-good panderers.
