The Ruger #1 does have a flat breech face.
Here is a pic of a piece of brass that came out of one of my AR15s.
You can see some pressure signs:
1) flat primer with cratered pin strike
2) ejector mark
3) extractor mark
4) case stretch
5) extractor groove growth [must be measured with dial caliper]
