I like to leave my firearms and other valuables with a family member when I go on vacation. Now I have a suppressor to leave with them if I go out of town. Is it illegal for me to do that? I have a trust for my suppressor and if needed can place them on the trust. However, I wanted to know if it was necessary before filing any paperwork.

Thank you for reading my question.

Remember that NFA paperwork you filled out? The $200 tax?.........that was so you could legally possess an NFA firearm. Your family member would not be in lawful possession.
While letting a family member in the same state safeguard your firearms while you are away is perfectly legal under federal law, with NFA firearm its not that easy.

Adding them as a Responsible Person is the only means by which you could leave the silencer with them and they not be in violation of federal law.

If there was a gun safe at your family members home, you could store your firearms there without them being on your trust. But only you could possess the key or combination to that safe.
