As much as it galls me, my fiance has turned 21, as expected, on her birthday. Normally, this wouldn't be an issue, but seeing that I am still 20, its annoying to say the least. Not all is lost, however. For Christmas, I got a SureFire 6P and a hand-made display cabinet for my guns. For Valentine's Day, I"ve decided I want to get her a new pistol - in pink. I was thinking of a 1911, preferably with the slide anodized in pink... I've not been able to find it :( The best idea i've found so far is clear plastic grips, and paint the inside powder pink.

Clear plastic grips can be found here: http://members.aol.com/subsecreto/pink.jpg

As for the weapon itself, I was thinking about a Kimber Ultra Carry II, but I honestly don't know much about 1911s yet. She wants to be able to carry in her purse most of the time, as she's a dance instructor, and not many places to hide a handgun in a leotard, but she does have a secure, easily accessible place to store her purse when she's teaching.

In the end, I figure whatever will make her happy and get her out to the range will be best in the long run. Who knows, maybe if she ever did have to use the weapon, a jury would smirk at the thought of a murderer with a pink gun, I know I would...

Has she shot .45 before? I took my female friend shooting and she shot my other friend's XD40 and found it to be too much even though she's pretty buff for a girl. Just make sure it's a gun you know she'll enjoy shooting.

I know i'm 20, I buy the gun, she goes and fills out the paperwork, and never lays eyes on it until its complete. As for the caliber, I regularly take her shooting with my family's commander in .45, and she simply loves my Blackhawk in .44mag. Recoil is mainly perceived. Thanks for the links, i'll check these places out :)

I actually find the recoil of a .45 to be less sharp than the recoil from the .40.

I know my wife loves my Kimber Classic .45 as well as her SS Ultra Carry .45, but she's not so hot on my Kahr K40 or Sig 229 in .40.

Didn't Tanfoglio use to sell their polymer-framed Witness series in pink?

It is a well known fact that a certain shade of pink pacifies violent people. It's used in police stations and mental institutions. In the interests of public safety, I think all LEO's should be issued, and be required to carry, weapons painted this shade of pink. I think LawDog should serve on the Beta Test Group Committee. :neener:

seriouly, my wife loves pink clothes and really loves pink roses. loves guns too. so, i am going to that witness site to check for a birthday gift that is certainly unusual, good luck to us both in our quest.

You're just foolin' yourself Tam. It's time to be realistic and pack a .22. :D

Oh, you are up at Oak Ridge right? I recommended the shop to a friend of mine down there. She's a real girl, she shoots a 239. :neener:

I told her to mention me so, make me look good and give her a discount ok? :D

Actually, she could probably use some holster help, she doesn't carry right now but she's moving up here in a month and will be.
