Value needed of a S&W Model 19-3 4" P&R

I found a Model 19-3, pinned and recessed, blue with wood grips, adj sights and with 4" barrel... UNFIRED and beyond good lookin, with Box at a local store. In your all opinions, what is the value of such a piece?

Supica and Nahas (Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson) lists a NIB Model 19 as being worth $400. That is a starting point. If you can get it for this, then I advise you to grab it. I imagine that in most areas this would be offered at $500 or a little more.

Like my friend Frosty says, "at $400 GRAB IT", as NIB S&W 19's are
practically unheard of in UNFIRED status~! However, I don't think I
could get a full $500 out of it in my locale; even with box and doc's~?
Closer to $450 maybe, too the right person.

My daughter picked one up at a recent gun show in Montana--not unfired but as close as you can get to it--for $375.


She obviously has good taste and can spot a bargain.

I've noticed 19's in Gun List and even in CA though not as nice as yours not getting as much $ as one might think. I recently saw a 4" at 300 and two 2 and 1/2 inch ones for less than 300 in CA of all places.

However as mentioned, if you are not in a rush to sell and find the right person, $450 could be possible, 500 would be harder and 400 should move it.

My estimates are often colored by the fact that I livein the People's Commonwealth of Massachusetts where new guns must be approved by the AG for "safety" reasons. This has created a very expensive used gun market, probably 25% above that of non-occupied states.

A local shop has a NIB made in "66 nickle 4" 19 for $479. A nice gun, but I'm broke. I did manage $350 for similar condition 6" 19, no box blue however. This was last week. Now I'm broker, but waddayagonnado?

The store was asking $479 for it. They are high on some items, used guns mainly, but bottom line prices on glocks and sigs; ie: Glock 19 for $499 and sometimes lower
