If it is a .38 only, I doubt it would be a model 14, although I understand that DW DID make a few Model 14s in 38 only. Otherwise it would be a model 8-2. It IS an early Porkchop model (due to the additional portion of the barrel sticking down in front of the frame.
Some other things I see that are of note, is that it appears that the nut on the front of the barrel is the later (internal) version. The earlier models had an external nut that looked more like a TORX head on a bolt.
I would ask the same question over at the Dan Wesson forum www.danwessonforum.com. There are a few guys who frequent this forum as well, but over there, the depth of knowledge is pretty significant.
