I've been looking for a new target/varmint rifle for a while. The ones that I recently came accross were the Savage BVSS chambered for the .223 rem, CZ 527 Kevlar Varmint in .223, and the beautiful Remington XR-100 in 22-250. Anyone got one of these and can give me some info on them? So far my favorite is the Remington so far. It fits me pretty well and I hear the trigger if fairly good (40-xb). What groupings can I expect with each of these. As stated before it will be used for target (maybe 300 yrds, 400 max) and to kill those pesky yotes. Also, I hate how front heavy the savage is :barf:

I have the Savage 12VLP in .223, very much like the 12 BVSS you are considering. It is, by far, the most accurate rifle I have yet shot, and with handloads of the proper OAL, you not be sorry you bought it. The Accutrigger is a really nice addition to the Savage rifles as well.

My Savage 12flv is far and away the most accurate rifle i own and i own and have owned a lot of them. sub .50 groups any day of the week!!

I have shot many times the savage and the cz, having not shot the remmy.
The other two are most excellent, with great groups, a well made product, and very good triggers. If cost is not a factor , then don't worry on which you get, I am sure the trigger and the quality of the remmy are on par with the savage or cz, though the cz is more of a humping around/field rifle than the other two.

Of those you mentioned I have the 12BVSS in .223. It is a heavy rifle that is very stable shooting from a rest. I thought the Accu-Trigger was very good for an out of the box trigger - a very crisp 2.25lbs. Although it would not adjust any lower for me. I had a Sharp Shooter Supply trigger installed , set at 14oz.

The accuracy potential appears to be excellent , shooting some outstanding groups from time to time but with no regularity or consistency. The problem with this particular 12BVSS is the tendency to foul very rapidly. I am going to give it a few more thorough cleanings and see what happens in regards to consistency. If things do not improve I will re-barrel or trade it off. I've fired about 300 rounds so far.

I have a couple of Remingtons in .223 but they are 700s. My 700 LTR is the most accurate factory rifle I have ever fired. Also a relatively new 700SPS in a HS Precision stock that is shooting extremely well. I plan to take it out today to zero in its new scope - Bushnell Elite 4200 6X-24X.

The XR-100s in .223 I have read about on other forums like benchrestcentral , have been very positive. If I had to do it all over again I probably would have bought the XR-100. Although , now they will probably be hard to find.

Xr 100

Actually, I've found three in the local Sportsman's Wharehouse (.223, .22-250, and 204 Ruger) Which caliber would you get? I'm partial to the 22-250 or 223.

I'm very happy with my CZ in 223 caliber. Were I to do it over again, I think I would instead purchase the 204 Ruger. Same performance as the 22-250, maybe even better without the wear issues.

I've heard that it is a hit or miss with a CZ 527. My friend had one in .223 that he said would not shoot what so ever.

I have a 112 single shot in .223. Yes, they did make some. Other than the addition of a SSS trigger it's as stock as a stove. Accuracy in still air is absolutely uncanny. My 2 cents worth...Essex
