Frank;

WOW! Makes my recent little project mere child's play in comparison. We put a 3600 lb. C level Graffunder on a two-foot pedestal. It did have horizontal support legs out to seven feet though. Had to do that to bring the safe up to floor level from the concrete slab. However, there were only two of us, only took a couple of hours, and I think it's barely possible that it also cost less.

Well, there were only two of us doing the work, there were several others taking pictures, pointing fingers, and having palpitations. And the owner's wife had the cutest litter of kittens too!

If it is currently out in the open how will rust be prevented?

It won't be, entirely. This old girl was a rust bucket when we got to her. They had stored the door in a warehouse without taking any measures to protect against corrosion. Then, to make matters worse, somebody attempted to help by using an angle grinder to clean that rust off.

We cleaned it up as best as it needed to be for us to install it, and check it for proper operation. This involved rebuilding all of the hinges, and making the mating surfaces clean. The tolerances are very tight, so a little bit of gunk could jam you up. Getting it fully cleaned now would do no good, as corrosion will be a problem while it sits.

Once the door is in a climate controlled environment, it will be fully disassembled, cleaned, lubricated, and reassembled. From that point on, corrosion will not be a concern. The ability to lock the door has been removed, although the bolt work and pressure system are fully functional. Although the door looks as if it's stainless, it's just polished steel.

It has a combination of penetrating oil, WD-40, and grease applied everywhere that was reachable. They are supposed to check the door once a week, and address the issues that pop up before they get too bad.

Lots of WD-40 Specialist

That's what I use here at the shop for long term storage, and it has worked great. This door is from the same manufacturer, and is also polished steel. It looks the same as the day it was brought here, with no signs of corrosion.

Frame and door are impressive. Securityfor the rest of the box

Since it isn't Cheyenne Mountain, how was the construction of the rest of the box made secure?

Thanks,

I'm thinking they were more like Puppies in a gunny sack.

Think this through for a moment!
