Just how good is this rifle for the $1000+ that they want for it?
I am trying to select a .223 rifle for myself. Here is the list. in no particular order:
1) Kel-Tec SU-16A
2) Vepr II 223 (if I can find one)
3) Saiga 223
4) AR-180
5) AR-15 clone
6) V93 (HK 33 clone)
7) SIG 556

Just how good are the accuracy and reliability on these rifles, yes, I know that SAIGA 223 is not as good as VEPR 223. However, I am in the dark as far as most other rifles go. Sig 556 for example, looks to me as yet another gas operated long pistol stroke weapon with rotating bolt (which makes it an AK clone). I do not know how good (reliable/accurate) those rifles are.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The deal breaker for me on the HK93 copies is that the mags are really expensive. 40rd mags are around $35-50. 25rd mags are around the same price. And those steel 30rd mags are pretty much always $60 and up.

If only they would make a G41 clone.

From the list you gave, I would choose the AR-180, the AR-15, and the SIG556 because they all use cheap STANAG mags. The Saigas and Veprs would also be nice if you spent the time converting 5.45mm mags to take 5.56mm ammo....and then converting the rifle to accept those mags.:scrutiny: To much work for me.

Just buy an AR15 as your first evil black rifle. Then add the others as time goes by, and discover how good the AR really is.

While your list was stated to be in no particular order, it almost does go from lowest to highest in price. I've moved the VEPR, though honestly have no idea how much one of those would run. So now you have:

1) Kel-Tec SU-16A
3) Saiga 223
4) AR-180
2) Vepr II 223 (if I can find one)
5) AR-15 clone
6) V93 (HK 33 clone)
7) SIG 556

I've kept the Saiga as #2 since I'm assuming you would want it to be converted. If you can do the work yourself it would probably end up cheaper than the Kel-Tec.

Anyways, it looks like you are willing to spend from about $400 - $1,400. Is that the case, or would your prefer to spend closer to the lower amount?

Basically, my motto is...

The lowest cost with the highest effectivity.
For example. Unless SIG556 shots 25% better then V93, there is no need to spend 50% more money on it.
I know that SAIGA is less accurate then vepr, I also know that it is pretty cheap.
So, for me, the issue is "most bang for the buck". Saiga, for example has 2.4MOA, vepr has 1.8MOA at least thats what bunch of Russian hunters got when they tried them.
I am interested in getting an accurate high capacity rifle. I am somewhat prejudiced against AR-15s, since I absolutely HATE the sight, and those guns require much more upkeep then HK clones and AK (put 100 rounds through AR-15 and then put 100 rounds through an HK and see which one is dirtier)
To be honest, I hate any "ring and post" sight, preffering old "plank and post".
So, I would buy an AR-15 only if it would be cheaper any other rifle with compatitive accuracy. And yes, I am aware of the clumzy trigger on HK guns.

Kel Tec does look good, if weird. It taks M16 mags, but I am really not sure just how accurate reliable it is.
V93. Yes, it is HK33 copy, which, in my book, gives it a chance of being good. You know, "Fine German Engineering" and all:)
On another hand, I do not know just how good vector arms are.
Saiga 223. Cheaper Vepr. Accuracy worse then Vepr. Reliability is the same.
SIG556. Unless it has 25% better groupings then V93 and 30% better groupings then Vepr II or Kel Tek - I will not buy it. Too expensive
AR-180. I never held it, so dunno anything about it. Just dunno how good it is. Besides, it is Stoner, so I question if it can be as reliable and problem free as HK and Long Stroke gas piston operated weapons.
AR-15. I am pretty sure that the accuracy is good with 20 inch target barrel. But is it better then Vepr 223 with 20 inch chrome lined barrel and RPK receiver? If so, then how much?
