It's Here! Video on Replacing Flat Hand Spring with a Wire Spring

Broken flat hand springs seem to occur frequently in Colt-type revolvers.

Several days ago I asked if anyone would be interested in seeing a video on replacing broken flat springs with a spring made from wire, and got some encouragement. So here is the video.

I'm not comfortable narrating a video, preferring to use printed titles instead. At least that way if you don't like my choice of background music, you can turn your speakers off and still get the information!

Here's hoping you will find it interesting, and perhaps encourage you to develop the idea further. The wire hand spring is not as elegant as some other approaches, but it is quick and easy to do.

Good job, J-Bar. I use wire springs to replace broken hand springs also. However, being the cheap guy that I am I don't purchase music wire. I use the springs from discarded ball-point pens.

Great job J-Bar , I really enjoyed that flick .
I've had one flat spring break on me but I rigged it with another piece of flat spring steel,, took me eons to file that sucker to the correct width and length NEXT time I'm doing it your way.

Thanks, looks simple enough, but I don't think I would have ever thought up that method on my own.
Definitely a worthwhile effort, thanks again for sharing.
