This is an up close introduction to the Starr DA model that can also be fired as a single action, but he doesn't actually show how the hinge works.

Of course Mike provides the most in depth look at the Starr, and he loads and shoots a single action Starr at the end of the video.
After the 6:30 mark, he shows how the hinge works to break open the gun which is very fast and simple.
He also mentions that the Starr was the 3rd most popular revolver used during the civil war after the Colt and the Remington.
The Starr is also very simple to cap.
It's always nice to become reacquainted with the obscure Starr reproduction revolvers which deserve a closer look.

Good morning Articap!
I've gotten one of these Starr DA revolvers. Once you shoot it a few times, the trigger system becomes second nature to use. The Soldiers in the Civil War were not fond of it ( I hear and have read because when they were in battle, "second nature" went out the window ). Starr designed the SA version of the revolver then and it was extremely popular.
regards!

Perfectly beautiful in its own way.jpg

I was not aware that Pietta made repros of these. How long has this been going on, I assume there is problems with them making more???

Posters here have said that it has been "discontinued" or "currently discontinued".
The Pietta website still shows Starrs on their page titled "Western Line" . --->>> https://www.pietta.it/1858-starr

There is a contact form on the Pietta Firearms home page to ask them. --->>> https://www.pietta.it/home-pietta-eng
Or a person could also ask EMF which is owned by Pietta, or ask Dixie if they know.

They probably only produce them from time to time since no one seems to stock them.
Perhaps Pietta needs a contract for a large order before they will make any more.
Dixie does stock parts for it if a person wants to buy a used one, and Taylors also lists parts.
