Well here I am again asking advice from anyone who knows more about this than me. I have recently and accidentally fallen upon a bunch of old ammo. I got a pretty fair deal and was going to sell it on my tables at the gun shows. But after picking it up I see that almost all of it is in Vintage maybe collectors boxes. Lots of questions.
(1) Anyone know how I would find out the value of this stuff before I just go off selling ?
(2) Which boxes are older, the yellow Winchester box with the red "W" or the Yellow box with the red "X" , Or the white box with the red "X" ?
(3) Is old Canadian Ammo worth anything ? (Imperial Brand)
(4) What Is the value here above just ammo ?
(5) How should I go about selling vintage ammo ?
I have Old green Remington boxes, Winchester boxes all the way back to the 2 piece boxes, Winchester yellow boxes in 3 different designs, some other brand. Calibers, 32 short rim fire, 25-20, 25 acp, 38-55, 30-40 Krag, 7mm Mag, 7 Mauser, 8mm Mauser, 38-40, 44-40, 38 Long Colt, 40-70, 405 Win, 333 Win, 257 Roberts, most of these are complete boxes, a few are partial, and a couple are just empty boxes.
I have read that there are actual collectors shows for vintage ammo. Any advice would be helpful. I don't mind passing along a fair deal to people but I don't want to just rip myself off completely. Don't know what I'm dealing with. I was just expecting to get a trunl load of ammo, wasn't expecting all this old stuff. Any advice would be much appreciated ! Thanx !

What state are you in? With that I can tell you if there's a cartridge collector show anywhere close.
Pricing old ammo is more art than science. Really need pics to ID or valuate.

I'm in Kentucky for a while. Thanks for the link, I'll get into soon as I get a few minutes. I'll try to post some pictures next week if that will help.
Thanx !

No cartridge shows in the Kentucky area, but there is one in the fall in Ohio, and a big one in St. Louis the week before Easter. Not sure which is closer to you.

Yeah some of the vintage boxes are worth more than the ammo in them. If it was me I would be in no hurry to sell until I got good data. Also one of those shows might be worth looking into. Yes pictures help bigtime. I have a bunch of different older boxes but just display them in my reloading room along with old empty powder containers.

I have a few old ones displayed too, but this lot is way too big to display all. Think I'll keep a few and sell the rest when I get an idea what I'm doing. Thanx for all the help so far. Here are some pics if that helps.

A lot of boxes of brass cases too, also old boxes. Lots of boxes of bullets, mostly vintage boxes there too. Johnnyc ? How do I find out about the show in Ohio ? Maybe it would be worth the trip ?

Thanx Johnny, Odd Job, and everyone else for the help. I'll check out the link and find a show. Really appreciate it !
