'Tween swamp and sun!
I purchased an old Colt a while back and wanted some ammo for it. It's not a range toy but more of a "cool old gun to have around" but, since it IS a firearm, I wanted to make sure that it--fired!

I found an older (vintage) box of Winchester Western-X 38 Short Colt ammo for the gun. I figured that I didn't need Long Colts for this purpose and, I really dig the older box to go with the gun.

I believe the box is much newer than the Colt since it has the "Child Safety Warning" on the box (Post-'62?) but I'm having a hard time narrowing down the date of manufacture more than that. The stamp on the inside of the box is 25HE-41. There is also what looks like an -22 stamp a little higher on the flap. Not sure if that's a production run or what.

Can anyone help determine what year this ammo might have left the factory? I put one cylinder-full through the gun and kept the empties to prove that it DOES shoot. If I shoot it more, I'll just whip up some black powder with some 38spl cases and wad-cutters.

As always, any info is greatly appreciated.
