Vintage bb gun repair

I know someone with an inoperable Remington Model 26, and would like to find out if it can be repaired. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks, it is really cool, but needs to be fixed. If the brain trust here can't offer advice, it might really be a lost cause.
