Is this a response to the "news" papers reporting gunowners/concealed carriers?

If so this might be better in activism as a kudos to all those who wrote into their legislators. (last line in article)

RICHMOND, VA. — A handful of Virginia legislators have killed a bill that would require private sellers at gun shows to perform background checks on buyers, while approving bills to make it easier to purchase and carry guns.

A House Militia, Police and Public Safety subcommittee voted 4-1 Thursday to kill Democratic Del. Jennifer McClellan's bill to close the so-called gun-show loophole, where private sellers are not required to perform checks. The House has killed the bills for several years.

A handful of similar bills have not been acted on.

The subcommittee passed several gun rights bills, including ones to allow renewal of a concealed carry permit by mail, allow localities to auction guns received in buyback programs to dealers and one that shields records of permit holders from the public.

And to think that VA is but a stone's throw from D.C.! Good news for RKBA. How asinine to require FTF sellers to perform background checks on buyers.

This just means it passed out of sub-committee. It still has a way to go before becoming law. There are very few anti-gun bills that have been introduced and quite a few pro-guns. Go to VCDL website to see the status of everything that is in committee and updates to see if they have passed or not.

And the answer if it is a response to papers publishing CHP holders in the state is yes.

Previous administrations have vetoed similar bills for the last 8 years. These bills have a real chance of becoming law now. Any further comments will border on political discussion so I will resist the urge to type more.

I think I read somewhere that the new Delegate Morefield is going to introduce a new bill for the Castle Doctrine in VA. Anyone know about this.
