I really dont know. Our pistol range is closing down today. And moving to a new location. The guy there said that they will not have a pistol range (Gun shop only) but, in about ayear will have a Virtual Reality Shooting range. I figure that it will be like a video game type thing. No real fun in that. I can do that a home on the XBOX
Well, I guess im off to search for a real shooting range.
It's probably a 3-d thing where you put on goggles with little computer screens in them, headphones for surround sound and look like a dope pointing a plastic gun at things that aren't there.
I'd imagine that they're all the range in places where they can't have guns, like Japan and Kalifornica.
Calling a FATS (Firearms Training Systems) setup a video game is a bit like calling a Honda Elantra a race car.
I've talked to a couple of employees from there, and what they have is a very effective training tool for simulating encounters that may or may not warrant the use of lethal force. (Scenarios can be set up so that the user must make shoot/no-shoot decisions, use pepper spray, etc.) They've also got setups for the military to train in everything from basic rifle marksmanship to proper employment of things like automatic grenade launchers.
