Anyone else out there waiting til this crap is over to sell any guns ive got a couple that needs to go but do yall think this is the wrong time to get fair price

Do you have any understanding of the concept of Supply & Demand?

782bird, I’m thinking that jonnyc is saying “Now is a good time to sell!” Folks are buying everything that’s available now. That should apply both 1) if you’re thinking of a private sale (depends on your state requirements and how comfortable you are with that process), or 2) selling to a local gun shop (who’s inventory is probably getting thin).

If you wait, some of these new owners might be selling their recent firearm purchases after this crisis has passed, so you’ll be in competition with that group later.

Best of luck!

Depending on what you have might be able to make some money. I sold my Ruger AR for $800 at the beginning of this mess. Paid $600 for it. When folks are panicking there is money to be made. Some might say I'm a crappy person for taking advantage of this situation. Well if everyone prepared before hand then I wouldn't have made a single dollar.

I was at Sportsman's Warehouse yesterday and there were plenty of handguns, rifles and shotguns and an ok supply of 9mm ammo. Also there was Unique in both 1lb. and 8lb jugs and it's typically one of the first powders to disappear in a buying panic. The local firearm forum, Northwest firearms, has plenty of firearms and ammo and anything else gun related one may want. Prices seem to be normal.

Same here, and I was in Sportsman's Warehouse (in Pocatello) yesterday too. I didn't see any 9mm ammo though, but that's not what I was looking for anyway.
I think there are at least two or three of these threads about noobs and/or panic buyers buying up every gun and every bit of ammo in sight, but I'm just not seeing it around here. It must be a regional thing. I'll bet there wasn't over a half dozen customers in Sportsman's yesterday when I was there, and only two of them were back in the guns department. Those two were looking at bullets - the same as I was. I bought myself a new box of Hdy XTPs to try out in my 32 H&R Mag, and I noticed there were 2 more boxes of the same bullets still on the shelf.
What I did think was a pretty funny, or ironic, or whatever you want to call it sight was - one of the state liquor stores in Pocatello is right next door to Sportsman's Warehouse, and there were six or seven people standing around, waiting to get into the liquor store. I thought about taking a picture of that, but decided against it because it would be rude, and a possible invasion of privacy - although I've seen a lot of pictures of people standing around waiting to get into gun stores on the TV news lately.:scrutiny: Besides, in fairness there was a big sign on the liquor store's door saying "only nine customers allowed inside at a time.";)

Don't know what you are selling , but what is the harm in listing now? It seems to be a seller's market , but my feeling is that the run is slowing. I would expect a softening of the selling market in the lull between the current crisis and the election.

Buying frenzies of any kind generally do not sustain for long periods of time unless supply is near totally unobtainable , and a person can walk right out and find guns to by today ; perhaps with diminished options and choices. The only way to find out if it is a good time to sell is to give it a whirl.

I have some that I'm selling as part of retirement downsizing. Older mil-surp stuff that doesn't fit the needs of a lot of those now buying guns. Sold a couple on consignment at a LGS but they were slow sellers. Sold one at a local auction house that has a couple gun auctions every year. Was gonna let the auction house do another one this coming season but now they are doing auctions on-line only so I'm not sure how that will go over. Think I may wait until things get back to more or less normal. Most of this sellers market applies to more modern self defense guns from what I gather. So it probably boils down to if what you are selling is what the market is looking for at this time.

I agree with CPE. Sell now while people still have money and before the market gets flooded with used guns.

Guy in a local forum is trying to sell a PSA Freedom built kit on an Anderson lower for $900.

Everybody on the site is all passive aggressively liking the post and shouting good deal.

There are probably three others on the same page with asking prices which are much more fair. What a maroon.

But yes, it is a sellers market right now.

I didn't look at the gun counter but I was at the local Academy last Sunday. They had signs outside with a list of the ammunition they were out of 9mm, .40, .45., 5.56,.223., .30-06, 12 gauge. They were even out of .32 & 25 acp. I was there for other purchases but did scan to see what they had left. I didn't want to pay $28.00 for a 50 round box of .357 TMJ cartridges so I picked up the bicycle & soccer ball I came for & left. I believe now would be a good time to sell. Not in a hurry to buy right now anyway but if I were I would wait a month or two until everything settles down.

I think the craze is starting to pass; best sell what you don't need/want now as, as stated above, a few months from now there will be lots of "Snowflake" guns on the used market.

That's awesome. I'll buy them up for cheap sit on them until the next panic. And make a few bucks. What I did after Obama panic. And my wife said I was nuts for spending all the money I did for mags and ammo. Made out like a bandit this time around. And I will next time.

If ones not the time to sell, then the right time is in a few days when stimulus checks (inflation seeds) hit bank accounts. Now is the time to sell boats and guns.

from somebody who just bought 4 revolvers, I can say this... certain markets are inflated and certain markets are deflated. Shotguns, modern tactical type handguns, and “military influenced” weapons like AK and AR are moving quickly and at a higher price. Sporting arms and antiques are at a lower price point. Hell, I almost bought a nice LC Smith SxS 12ga in a nice case on Gunbroker for $400.

What is it that your in a mind to sell?

There's no downside to listing it. There's so much economic turmoil currently that it'd be hard to make an accurate guess as to how demand will be impacted.

During the Great Recession (2007) it took 2.5 years for the US economy to lose 15 million jobs.

In the past 21 days alone we've lost almost 17 million. This country is about to see a few months of economic contraction like it has never seen. The St. Louis Federal Reserve says it expects GDP to come in at -50. That is an apocalyptic number. We got nowhere near that even during the Great DEPRESSION.

As more and more people lose their jobs, your market is going to be getting smaller and smaller.

On the flip side though, there are some people who will actually make more on unemployment than they did at the job they lost. This is due to the Federal addition of $600 per week to unemployment benefits. So who knows? Just list it. If you get a price you like, sell it.

I have 4 guns for sale locally. Lots of interest on the 2 budget 22s not so much on target 38 revolver and 44 super blackhawk. Whats the worst that can happen op?

I don't doubt your veracity, but can you share a link to news article or something where you read/saw that? I'd like to share it with some people.
